Cheers Roygbiv we were talking to some of their lot before the game & they were saying how much they’d regressed but seemed confident of a result today , I said your playing a complete different side … Well we’ve come on leaps & bounds with the recruiting & they look like a side in a rut .. enjoyed that after the 2 OG win last Christmas for them .. karma’s a bitch sometimes ⚔️

The view from Luton fans was as listless as their team performance.

Credit Wider with canny comments, team selection and substitutions, and I am not usually a big Wilder fan.

He has made his job harder to do anything so positive against Leeds in an important away game!

Let’s hope he pulls another rabbit out of the hat for that one.
Thanks Roy.

Luton looked abject today, completely and utterly devoid of any instruction or intensity to win the game or even draw it. I was surprised, I thought they had a bit of bite about them, seems like they’ve stopped playing for Edwards and wouldn’t be surprised to see him go soon if they don’t start picking up.

I do love it when we bang some nails in coffins though 😄

Many teams will have their ‘worst performance of the season’ against us for the simple reason that , contrary to my fears at the end of last season and as a result of some brilliant work by those involved in the process , we now have a team which is significantly better than most if not all of those in this league .

This applies not only to the quality of the players we have available , but also the system we are playing and the levels of organisation , commitment and togetherness they are performing with .

As an added but very important bonus , we now have a strength in depth within the squad the likes of which I struggle to remember us ever having before , apart from that of back up strikers .

If you looked at our bench today , we had at least 5 players who are significantly better than their equivalent in Luton’s first choice eleven and it’s a long time we’ve been able to say that about any team at any level we’ve played at .

How much longer can teams wheel out this crap that the blades spent more money 😵‍💫 more like Luton never ever spend money it’s what they do

Cheers Roy 🍻

Tried having a wee browse on Luton forum yesterday and all I could find was Luton Outlaws Avenue Of Evil. Proper bizarre

We have spent a fair bit by championship standards.

Most clubs don't have parachute payments or sold Trusty, Benie and Osula all of whom may have only been fringe players for 20 million or so

Luton are investing in their new stadium and the long term.

Thanks Roy. Reading this through a pounding hangover this morning but they got their comments bang on.
Especially the one from Bedfordshires answer to Noel Coward that just said "Knob Edwards".

They’ve clearly lost their edge this year, but we had them at arm’s length for almost the entire game. Just a handful of crosses that might conceivably have bounced the wrong way, but otherwise they had zero say in proceedings.

It’s amazing the progress we’ve made in managing games since losing the script vs QPR.
I agree with all that but my point was I response to the lack of bite accusation
I thought they pressed us quite physically at times and certainly got stuck in we just as you say kept them. At arms length disarming their press

I don't think. They aren't playing for Edwards I just think. He is very limited coach whose entire philosophy revolves around a hybrid of wwe and crossing

It's cost us a whopping minus £32m to put this squad together this season! Or...our arrivals totalled £6.5m compared to the £13.5m Luton spent this season
I think they were referring to us offering the players higher wages than they had offered. Probably true.

Just watched one of their clogs and their fans come across as a right bunch of entitled mardy bums

It's not exactly like they total footballer their way into the prem or tika taka'd to their eight victories in it

It happens though, media blew smoke up Their arses for so long they now have a distorted view of who they are Nd where they've come from and in football and particularly the championship managing expectations is probably the biggest challenge a club faces

We will have paid around the same in loan fees and wages than they did but yep If that's what Luton paid it's a little rich for them to complain.

But compared to almost every other club we have spent a lot ( we needed to!)

We changed our policy....instead of paying big transfers we decided to pay out big wages instead ensuring other clubs couldn't compete.
What about our wage bill? Surely that's 2-3x theirs now.
From any sources I can find our wage bill is only around £1m more than theirs, we have a net profit of £38m (£22m if you take out archer since he was basically a loan) while they have a net profit of only £4m.

Seems a common theme this season of fans whinging about money just because we were recently in the prem. The reality is we've made a large profit in transfers and our wage bill while 3rd highest in the league is modest compared to Leeds and Burnley (1st and 2nd) and is only barely higher than the next 4 or 5.

Cheers Panchero!
