I’ve had the same thought.
I do think the ref, in not laying down the law to Honeyman, when he was getting lippy about being booked, made the situation far worse, made the job a lot harder, should have stopped the game, called Honeyman over and told him just who was in charge, any more arguments and he would be booked and sent off.
Instead he allowed Honeyman to think he was the victim, and try and get payback, at any and every opportunity

A lot of refs seem to make the job harder for themselves by failing to set clear expectations early on. Many seem to have been convinced that it’s their job to preserve the game as a spectacle but it isn’t despite what pundits may say. They are there to enforce the laws of the game many of which protect the players and give them the platform to go on and create a spectacle.

I've never seen defending like that at corners you always get a bit of pushing and shoving but how do they expect to get away with bear hugs? If we'd had VAR at that game there would have been an extra 15mins while they studied the replays and about 4 red cards. Honeyman and one or two more were like randy dogs trying to shag their owners leg.

Think it was Don Goodman, that asked the question yesterday, re their defending, when and where this 'style' of defending came into football, there has always been an element of the 'dark arts' in defending corners, but bear hugs, blocking players off and not looking at the ball, facing away from the corner etc
Every team will be exploiting Hulls defending, thing is they won't change without red cards, and the 'style' of defending will carry on, without red cards, eg Wolves player on Toney yesterday

Thanks Roy.

I go to Hull a lot sometimes for work and on the way in on one paricular corner there‘s always a group of smack heads. Honestly, it’s one of the first things you see on arrival and gives a lovely impression of their city.

In fact the approach into Hull has to be one of the worst in the country. I’m sure there are nice parts in Hull, but I’ve never seen them. It’s an awful city.
Show me one town or city in the UK 🇬🇧 with no smakheeds..

We’ll if you read my post I’m talking about the approach into the city and the impression the resident smackheads give.

Luckily our smackheads aren’t camped out on the Parkway.

I drive into Hull quite a bit along Clive sullivan way ,if you are talking about the left hand side I think that's the dhss offices

I’m talking about the group of smackheads on the left hand side as you drive in. I have no idea of the name of road. I think some of them are taking that drug that makes them look like zombies. Literally they stand there motionless stooped over.

Not a good look for any city.

I’m all for ‘Civic Pride’ ( well actually I’m not) but have some of the posters on here had a squint at Sheffield & ( some of) it’s populace recently ?😳

Dele Alli tried it today and cost Spurs a goal against Chelsea.

Cheers Panchero!
