It's actually just over 2 years since we played them at the Lane.
You are right S64 Blade. In my earlier post I said we had played them at the Lane in April 2016. Apologies. That was incorrect. It was April 2017 - our last game in L1! So that makes this even more incredible that it's only 2 years 3 months ago that we were in the same League as them. My previous post said it was 3 years 3 months. Apologies but it just sounds unreal!

I think it might only be 5 years since we lost 3-2 at their place. The game famous with Blades fans for their left back, Jones, 'getting Pigdon sent off'. Have to say that apart from that, they played us off the park that day and in reality it wouldn't have flattered them if they'd stuffed us about 6-0. Paul Cook was their manager that day and their team had Eoin Doyle (who's career has gone spectacularly downhill after leaving them), our good friend Mr Morsy, Jimmy Ryan, Darikwa, Daniel Johnson (on loan), Gary Roberts, not to mention the lamentable Jones. Just shows what happens when you sell all your best players and make no attempt to replace them.

We on the other hand had the likes of Pigdon, Alcock, Collins, McEveley and Flynn.

How times change.

"we were on a par with the Blunts 4 short years ago".

Actually we played them at BDTBL in April 2016 in L1 and (scraped a 3-2 win) so that's only 3 years and 3 months! Just underlines how far we have come - and also how far they have fallen.
Try 2 years and 3 months!! Even more frightening.

“One of their players cost more than our clubs worth, that should put some perspective on it.” - weird to read that said about us

"But show some grace, they have done remarkably well to reach the PL, on much much smaller budget than their rivals" - ah that's more like it

We only scraped a win because a months worth of booze celebrations finally caught up with our boys, a truer reflection of that season would be the game at Chesterfield, where we spanked them 4-1, recovering from going a goal down.

Personally speaking, can’t stand Chesterfield, hope they get relegated.

I think I lost half a stone on that walk back to town yesterday evening.

It was so hot and humid. Sweating buckets as I marched quickly for a pint, I had a lactic acid attack on my leg as well.

That first pint didn't touch the sides!

The match was so one sided and the gulf between the teams clear to see. I liked the look of Freeman and Robinson, both look a step up in class/quality. They look like decent buys. Time will tell. Billy will not have it so easy in the future, but I still fancy him to score some goals and play a big part in the season.

Enjoyable evening. Thumbs up for the Beer Parlour as well.

Premier league vs national league. What were they expecting?
Absolutely crackers what’s happened to both clubs in the space of 5/6 years

“One of their players cost more than our clubs worth, that should put some perspective on it.”

Oh how many times have I said that about us? Nice to hear it when the boot is on the other foot :D

Was sat in chezzy end last night as went with chezzy supporting family and they really do have some deluded fans. Some sat around me were genuinely disgusted when they went 2 down and they genuinely seemed to think they should of at least got a draw. 1 lad stormed off when we went 3 up and chucked his shirt at the pitch saying they were a disgrace and wouldn’t be going again!

Glad Billy got a hat trick as he got some proper abuse prior to the game, my favourite comment after his 3rd was “wait til you fail next season you arrogant ****, you’ll struggle to find another team”.

Where's the Wednesday infiltrator? Oh well try this:

'If Wednesday had played us they would have brought at least 7 thousand and have sounded 10 times as loud. On the pitch they would've wracked up double figures. Of the 2 Sheffield clubs I've always preferred Wednesday as they have more class.'

I hope we see plenty of your smiling clowns next season :)

Thank you - I was sure I saw someone lob their shirt on and storm out, but I didn’t quite believe my own eyes!

The trouble with Chesterfield fc started when that failed ex Pig owner took them over can't remember his name and can't be arsed to google it I think he might still own the dog track. Guess what he fucked Chesterfield up too, new stadiums usually give the team a boost like at Rotherham and Doncaster but no not at Chessie a couple of decent seasons and it all went to 💩 too many failed pigs around that club for sure they got rid of any half decent players and managers and down they went. Even the dream team of Danny fucking Wilson and Chris Morgan could do nothing to improve their fortunes LOL.

Dave Allen (not the debonair Irish comedian).

I had to check it wasn't Dave Richards, though. Wednesday have had a couple of incompetent Daves running the club.
