Roy's View From... View From Bristol City

Some get it, others have gone down the route pedalled by media channels like those clowns on the Second Tier podcast, which is how unlucky Bristol City were, and it’s all down to the sending off. They weren’t unlucky, they were battered. There wasn’t a single moment in the two games where I was worried, as we were better than them man for man and as a team.

I love how people keep quoting Brewster’s price tag as being a result of parachute payments, 1) because we paid for him while we were in the Prem and 2) isn’t the general consensus that he isn’t worth that? You can’t have it both ways!

Cheers Panchero!

"If there’s one thing we can take is that we can compete with most Champ clubs except maybe Sunderland and Leeds with fanbase and support off the pitch”

Don't know how getting thumped 6-0 creates that thought, but okay.

This is my favourite comment. Not only of the evening, but of the season. Maybe of all time.

Please, please, please let somebody post that on Owlstalk.

“Would like to have another crack at SU next season.”

You sure about that pal ?

I wonder if Leeds and Burnley had to put up with all this “parachute payment” bullshit.

Cheers roy, come on who off here put the one on near the end and the name of the ground was a totally new one, cheers

I imagine so, but it's not bullshit imo. The payments help enormously, our budget is much higher than theirs and it showed.

Felt like us last season, getting to the 60th minute and having Spurs or Liverpool bring on five more players that would be our best player by miles, while we bring on Larouci, Osborn, Osula and Slimani.

Soz, it’s utter bullshit. Whereas I do agree PP are a thing. Almost every team in the Championship (with the exception of PNE and Bristol City) have made that initial leap and broken through the so called parachute disparity. At the start of every season all teams know that it is possible to buck the trend and should really stop bleating on about it. PP are a hard earned benefit of promotion if managed correctly…See Luton.

It's possible to buck the trend, but that doesn't mean the advantage is not significant. Leicester won the PL, but surely nobody would argue that the gap between the biggest teams and the rest hasn't grown in the last twenty years.

PP are necessary given the fucked up financial disparity between the PL and Championship, but they pass some of that disparity down into the Championship. It's absurd to discount PP from a conversation regarding ourselves and Bristol City, just like it'd be absurd to not mention Man City's owners and spending in relation to us.

Can't fault their support on the night. Top effort!

Thanks Roy & great tune - saw them at the Top Rank in 1980 and the Lyceum a few years later

I think it's worth mentioning how well we managed the pitch on the final whistle. We did the same pretty much when we achieved promotion 2 years ago against West Brom. I wonder if we'll get recognition for that? I doubt it. It's pretty crap how Burnley / Forest get away with their disgraceful pitch invasions against us

The same fans that laugh at our Premier league relegation, are tge same ones that moan that we get parachute payments.
Remember that.

Cheers Roygbiv
Win it for George.

Extra view from those mad pricks in Coventry

Cov fans are a bit like our inbred neighbours, mostly muppets but with a mix of decent people !
My cov supporting mate gets embarrassed with a lot of the antics some of them get up to .
He messaged me last night with how impressed he was with us ! Hates lampard being manager because hes taking credit for the work Robins did .

It was nice of the Premier League to.just randomly give us parachute money
Maybe it was reward for having to sell academy players to build a squad that got us promoted through league one and finished 9th in the prem
Justa. Thought
