Like Leeds and Portsmouth, Bolton only got to where they got spending a shit load of money they couldn't afford.

If...IF we manage to take something from them, and I see no reason to suggest we can't, I expect:

Ref was on their side.

Another lucky goal for them.

Fucking hate Wilder.

Pride and passion will only get you so far, still see a relegation battle for them.

They're still playing above themselves, they'll struggle eventually.

Today was a minor blip, we will still go up.
 
In amongst all the bile, there were some fairly reasoned comments tbf....

“Did we? No real goalscoring chance. They should have had 3”

“Never looked like scoring, and rarely threatened all game.”

“we didnt look good enough to break down a resolute defence like Sheff Utd.”

“Could of played all night and not scored. Can’t score , can’t defend , big problems.”

And this one is surely a rogue 16 year old Blades fan infiltrating their site...

“I hope Bolton get aids. We are a stain on the footballing world, hope we go out of business. They were a good side. Well drilled and dangerous on break. They won’t rip up many tress but will be 40 points above us”

Come on, own up!!

12 years means nothing now and has no relativity to the size of the club. The premiership looks like it is going to bankrupt the club and consign them to lower league football for eternity. Good riddance.

“Sheff Utd did everything possible to slow down the game, waste time and commit fouls. Every credit to them.

Funny because from what I saw Bolton tried to play the ref continually with their burly 6 footers toppling over at the slightest touch.

Thanks Roy. It has been nice reading those for the last 12 months or so, with the odd exception like Bolton where you can really see the mentality of the town. In this case chip of the shoulder because they spend their lives living in the shadow of a bigger city.
 



I am slightly surprised by this imagined Bolton rivalry...I have always had them down as just another of the shitty little clubs that infest Lancashire, like Bury or OIdham. They stand out for me in that sea of mediocrity for having this disgusting little creature on their books:

With a crowd less than 50% of our home gate, and yet they are delusional enough to regard themselves as a 'big'' club? Hasn't the penny dropped that their years of profligacy, when money was spent like it was going out of fashion, contributed to their current malaise? Bolton are being sucked into a deep, dark hole. Their finances are such that most other clubs view them as having football's equivalent of the Black Death.

If labouring on about the past brings comfort then good luck, but it's the present that matters, and if they can't accept this then why should anyone be surprised when they continue to drop like a lead weight?

if we keep this run up, the nice love ins will soon be full of hate instead, I would rather us be hated as then we are a threat and that will be a good thing. :)
 
Bitter comments, a lot of which seem to have been written for the put down effect, with us lot reading them in mind. Makes it even more fun reading them.

The “Why get into it with small time clubs like Sheff U and Bradford? We spent 12 years on the spin in the prem with European football" comment is my favourite given they are going the way of Coventry, who also had a long time in the top flight - that was then and this is now.

You have to make allowances, people hate what they don't understand. In Bolton these are things like the Internal Combustion Engine, things that fly and shagging someone you aren't related to.

They must be pitied.

They make it sound as if they got into Europe because of the great stature and standing of the club, the town and it's fans. Not by spending money they didn't have.

They are the footballing equivalent of a Chav who buys a 50 inch telly from Brighthouse and then can't afford to pay them what they owe.

They're worse than the pigs and Co-op bank.
