Man C. Dropped 2 points yesterday to a VAR call, so not sure how you came to that opinion?

I think it will actually help balance back towards the smaller teams. If you look at the ref yesterday he was jusy pointing to his ear explaining it’s a var decision. And those decisions are made by a ref miles away without any intimidation from the big boys.
Would have loved it when the likes of Roy Keane or John Terry used to get in the face of the ref, even they can’t put pressure on a bloke 100 mile away
You could claim Spurs are also a big boy , but a certain amount of decisions are still down to Human Nature , and if you have Hoof Team title on your head or are called StevIie G , this could influence whether to review it .

WAR. What is it good for? :)

Looked like handball to us in their area early on. I'll wait for MoTD to hear Danny Murphy say 'I've seen them given.' Zaha getting in Wilder's face? No action.
Dangerous kicking? Nah.

Freeman fouls Ward, Ward grabs Freeman by the throat. Obviously a booking for just Freeman. And so it went on...all afternoon.
Ward was booked too. Or am I confusing it with the Baldock foul, retaliation and double booking?

I don’t think VAR or the on-field officials got anything wildly wrong to be honest. Bought some of palace’s acting mind, but nothing major.

Every pen/goal/offside decision is reviewed regardless, you can't pick and choose which to look at.

Only issue would be "clear and obvious", because they don't overturn decisions based on "might be", has to be absolutely bang on.

Said earlier on twatter, I've watched 9 PL games so far this season, and VAR has had an impact on 3 and hasn't got anything wrong.

The closest to dodgy was the Pen refusal for Citeh, but by the letter of the law, was it clearly and obviously a penalty? A matter of opinion, and that's not VARs job.

I noticed this at match today & I was confused because assuming this is to with goal technology even though I though that was humanless in how watch buzzed if it crossed the line but he seemed quite important because this steward who I know from prior seasons Is important one, never left his side all game

David Silva goes down in the box
Ref says no penalty
VAR checks and it is a penalty
However, it isn't an obvious refereeing error
No penalty

I can't believe anyone can defend this joke of a system.

Is fucking horrendous. If it’s not overturning that what’s the point of it?

Let’s say the refs make 10 bad errors every weekend.
Instead of correcting all 10 errors, it’s seems it’s only 8 out of every 10 errors that are being corrected.

Before VAR there would be 10 errors. Now with VAR there’s only 2 errors.
It seems that VAR are trying to stay out of decisions unless it’s a clear and obvious error which can’t be disputed.

It’s not perfect but errors affecting games have been massively cut., it’s proving to be a massive improvement but not perfect.
Also dissent and ref intimidation is much less now that players know there’s no point complaining about a penalty if they’ve dived as this is picked up on camera.

People who complain about VAR are the same people who 12 years later still complain about Gerrard diving.

So if on the last day of the season we get relegated because VAR doesn't give us a penalty because it wasn't an obvious referring mistake then you';ll be happy?

It's ludicrous to check a decision on VAR, see it's a penalty, but not give it because it wasn't a clear an obvious mistake by the referee. Of course it's a &&^&&* mistake because it's a penalty and he didn't give it. The fact VAR checks it means someone must think it could be an error. I assume VAR checked it because they though it might be a dive. If you think someone is diving but in actuality someone trod on his foot then that's an obvious error.

This system needs to check everything (pen, goal, red card related) or nothing. This inconstant system is just as bad as an inconsistent referee.

Of course not but I am pleased that VAR’s finding most of the errors.
I’m surprised that you think that VAR would be perfect and get everything right all the time.
Even with 10 camera angles you have situations where no one can agree which decision was correct.

VAR can’t check and override everything otherwise what’s the point in having a ref.
When it’s a judgement issue then it should still be left to the ref and VAR shouldn’t get involved.

Before VAR it was a farce with referees being intimidated at the biggest grounds and giving decisions in their favour.
At least now there’s more fairness and the error rate effecting matches has definitely improved...so it’s a step in the right direction.

My points are:

1. VAR is inconsistently used for no apparent reason
2. If VAR finds an error, it should be acted upon. It's laughable that some guy in a room gets to decide whether the ref has dropped a big enough bollock to award a penalty that is clearly a penalty.

All VAR is doing is replacing inconsistent referees with inconsistent referees sat in a room.

Exactly 100%. The tech is fine, but how it’s been implemented is piss poor to be honest. Even simple things like letting the crowd/audience know what is and isn’t being reviewed isn’t working properly. They’ve basically decided to have one ref on the field and another in a van watching on TV. It’s doing my head in

VAR, only liked by “tv fans”. Can’t think of a single redeeming feature for it.
