Candidate for the next Blades boss?

I said before today he's done remarkably well to get that team anywhere near the top of the table. I presume they have a lower mid table budget. Lots of youth. Astute loan signings. Attack minded. At times slicker than us (e.g them having 9 men and doing some slick keep ball at 2-2, akin to what we should have done for the previous ten minutes).

Why no mention of him but we get Parkinson and Wilder bandied about?

I think Brentford have a bit of investment these days. They've built a team and have a new ground planned too.

As for Rosler, good call but he's got better odds of being in the Championship next year than we do.

We currently have our 6th manager in under three full seasons. The reason why we've gone all Blade again is partly because no one outside our walls who's any good would touch that job with a bargey.

He is in his second season at Brentford and has had chance to build a squad. Do you think anyone would get 2 seasons with us?

I thought they played well last night. Their movement and "give & go's" were better than United's and always looked more threatening. He's certainly got em playing well. Dunno who his number 2 is down there? Often it's not JUST about the manager, their relationship with the head coach and how they train and work together can have a big impact on the squad, like Bassett & Taylor for example! who were obviously put together to be a comedy act :o)
UTB

After that showing last night there's surely one only team of the two he'd want to manage and fortunately for him he's already there!

I never realised Donaldson was so fast. Also weren't we interested in weight philips but couldn't afford him?

I'll be quite honest, and not having looked at the teams, I thought Donaldson was BWP. Wasnt until I got back thati realised my error.

Gets his players playing like he did --- cheating.

No thanks ----- If he ever gets the job thats me done with the Blades until he is gone

Apparently we couldn't that's why we got Forte instead. I think it was more to do with geography though to be honest as he must be based on London or the surrounding area playing for Charlton.

Afraid not. Wilson said we couldn't afford his wages. Brentford's wage bill is similar to ours despite their attendance being half ours.

There are ways around the FFP if the owner is willing to invest, McCabe said so himself last week.

Really? I did not think anyone had a wage bill near ours.

Stanny, might have just been where I sat but what blatant cheating are you referring too? Donaldson? I thought we got away with some things that if they had been done to us we'd have gone nuts. Mainly through McMahan and Kitson.

Kitson attempting to referee every game doesn't count in your book then? Very one-eyed.

ageed.. lets be honest here.. Donaldson had tMac on toast, although Flynn was offering zero protection.. thought the one where he 'dived' was more of a pen than the pen
Brentford are a decent outfit. best team i've seen at the Lane.. credit where it's due i say

Rössler was quoted yesterday saying their budget was less than half of our's.

I thought they were the best team to come to the Lane all season, and Rosler deserves a hell of a lot of credit for the job he's done. I'd have him here in a heartbeat.

Brentford were well organised, quick and dangerous on the counter, good with the ball and their movement off the ball was excellent. How their away record is so average is beyond me! Donaldson absolutely ripped us apart and I thought Maguire was getting sent off when he booked Donaldson for diving instead. I thought it was a yard outside the box anyway but down to 10 men that early would have killed us.

With the age of most of their squad they have the potential to do well for a few years providing they hold onto them. I can see a few Championship clubs moving for Rosler in the summer.

Rössler was quoted yesterday saying their budget was less than half of our's.

Our Wages and Salaries for all staff (including Director’s renumeration) was £10.9M in June 2013.
We know that the wage bill has been reduced a lot by the departure of several big earners (Evans, Monty, Quinn, Williamson).
We also know that it’s around 65% of our declared turnover which was £10.2M in June 2013.
Therefore, I would guess our current wage bill for players is around £6.5M.
Either the newspaper article stating that Brentford’s wage bill is £5M is wrong or Rosler is mistaken/exaggerating.

Rösler is likely to be exaggerating. Their budget is probably smaller than ours but then they are undoubtedly a smaller club.

He's full of it on the Brentford site though:

“Sheffield United had all sorts of problems with us. Towards the middle and end of the first half they started to get us in to a battle and make us try to lose our heads. That was the only way for them to get something out of the game. We started to react; we picked some easy yellow cards in the first half.
Having said that, Clayton Donaldson’s first yellow card is a penalty, not a yellow card for diving, there was contact. The second one he slipped, everyone could see that.
At half time we warned the players. We told them to play football, they couldn’t cope with us. In the game I didn’t see the Tony Craig incident. I have seen the DVD, Tony was fouled. Kitson wrestled him down. We will definitely appeal and I think we have a good chance, after seeing the footage, that justice will be done.
We should still know the referee was being influenced by the crowd.
Clayton Donaldson is a threat, they couldn’t cope with him. They tried to get him off from the first minute. Unfortunately he got sent off. Both cards were harsh.”

I never realised Donaldson was so fast. Also weren't we interested in weight philips but couldn't afford him?

No, we were interested in Wright-Phillips but did indeed end up with the cheaper and much slower 'Weight-Phillips' - AKA Jonathan Forte, who runs like he's carrying a heavy fridge freezer on his back.

They were diving all over the place. Their striker tried to get George sent off. Likewise Donaldson until he had been booked constantly diving.

I agree that forte and poleon never really worked but I don't think Robson has been a bad signing

Danny Wilson (31st Jan 13):- Bradley Wright-Phillips was on our radar, but isn't anymore and that's because of costings. We have to be realistic and we can't bring players in who will take us over the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP).

To be honest, I think that trying to accomodate Robson in the team altered our style of play and cost us points.
Even if Wright-Phillips has only scored 5 goals in 13 matches like he has for Brentford that would have got us promoted.

"Even"? No United striker has been that prolific.

Treating substitute appearances as 0.2 of a full game:

Wright-Phillips has 5 goals in 8+5 appearances so 0.5 goals/game.

United strikers:

Kitson 11 goals in 28+3 appearances = 0.38 goals/game
Miller 4 goals in 7+8 = 0.47
Porter 4 in 11+7 = 0.32
Murphy 2 in 13+1 = 0.15
Cresswell 1 in 2+14 = 0.21
Forte 1 goal in 6+4 = 0.15
Ironside 0 in 0+10 = 0

Only Shaun Miller gets close.

I'd take his rant with a pinch. When Donaldson got sent off Rosler looked disgusted at him as he walked off and chucked water out of his bottle in his direction, obviously blaming him for the silly late tackle which with that ref was guaranteed a card. No doubt he's done a good job there though, good football side.

I think Rosler was touting himself for the job here at the time Wilson was appointede and got the Brentford job a few weeks later.
Given that his previous managerial experience had all been in Norway I'd doubt if he registered on McCabe's radar.
