Guessing that means we need Boro to sign another winger before they let Johnson go.

Also I notice Wilder says additions not an addition and he said possibly one maybe two before the weekend which can only mean that the other is a free agent, since he said that we won't get the forward he wants until the end of the window.

I wonder if Wilder is looking at a free agent forward or attacking mid. Gabby Agbonlahor is available and I know that won't inspire our fan base bu that's one name that stood out from the list of available free transfers. I think we can assume the forward Wilder wants that ill take longer is someone to rival Leon for the bigger man role.

He definitely said that the striker we want will go to the wire and will be a loan obviously and as we already have three loans and a fourth coming with Johnson I can only guess that the other player he wants is a free agent. Otherwise we can't get the forward he wants and we know that will take longer.

We can have 5 loans in the matchday squad. I fully expect two more loans, although a free agent is viable, not sure who's out there though.
 
Thought Enthusiastic Norman might make an appearance on Tuesday night. Could be a good while before we get to see the lad play.

I think you're reading it wrong, at no point has he said he'll sign another 3. Well he did but that was before we signed Norwood, but i'm sure you know what I mean.

We'll be after another 2 with both being on loan. Johnson will happen anyway but we have to wait for the selling club to sign someone before we get the striker in.

Not only does this rule out Joao but it rules out Gallagher as well.

Victor Anichebe is a free agent. Still only 30 and might be a useful impact player

Just listened to it again and I think you are probably right to be fair, I think I've probably misinterpreted his previous interview!

Unfortunately his legs are made of lollipop sticks & will still command a high salary for his half a season of semi-success, nearly a decade ago. Unless we can pay him by the hour, personally I wouldn't want him in.

Great shout that. I've listened back just now and I think that I've probably got it wrong with a free agent because Wilder says "we'll try and get one by the weekend hopefully and if we can get two that's great". I thought that means he's going for two by the weekend but I think its as LJ said and its one by the weekend and the second is just in the window as a whole. Judge for yourself mate, its on the clip below and the transfers talk starts at about 5.14 seconds gone when he starts talking about transfers and its about a minute later when he says the quote in bold.

I get your logic but if Wilder's view on getting another striker (figuring Marvin Johnson is the one we'll get by the weekend) is "if we can, that's great" then I'm worried. Another striker is a must.

I think hes just referring to the weekend, not the end of the window. Not sure how many times it needs pointing out but Wilder said it would go right down to the wire, 15 days away.

'Impact' as in having a drive relaid and you need more impact to level the slabs?

I can't imagine what else we'd want an overpaid sicknote for.
 
I'd think any signings coming from within our division will drag on right until the end of the window now. If another team in our division wanted Lavery, Lafferty, etc, it'd make sense to drag it on and leave them without cover for an extra couple of weeks, otherwise you're just doing them a favour.

Sharp definitely starting Saturday, and described by Wilder as “the perfect captain” (FAO Pinchy).

Also sounds like this virus could have affected some that would have otherwise started, and that Duffy may not have recovered from whatever knock he got. I expect Norwood will come in for him and we’ll go with a midfield 3.

Also explained the absence of Kean Bryan from the squad – training away from it at the minute to build his fitness up as he hasn’t had a preseason.

I’m definitely not inspired - you’re right. If Wilder went for him I’d think he’d lost his marbles!

Overweight, lazy, can’t be arsed and old. (Well, let’s call it “ not young”).

I still think we’ll sign Gallagher. I hope so anyhow. He’s about the best of those rumoured.

WHAT!!! No pre-season ?

Why on earth have we signed him then? Everyone knows a player must have a FULL pre-season with US and with us ONLY if they are going to be any good at all!
