(2/2) The same applies to Jason Holt who they already have an option to sign in the summer.

    No Bob, and no TK.

Another nerve-wracking, free-scoring extravaganza on the cards.

Not getting in an additional, ball-winning centre half before the loan window closed may come back to haunt NC, given TK's dodgy knee/s and resulting inability to string a series of games together. Taking Basham out of midfield severely impacts the side by taking away the biggest, most physical and mobile player, as witnessed on Tuesday.
TK and JB look a decent, if small, pairing but I worry about our susceptibility in the play-offs (assuming we’ll make them) if both aren't available.

I know it's harsh but it's time to write off TK.

If he can't train and can't string 2 games in a week together at his age then he needs replacing.

Sad but necessary

Unfortunately Maidenhead, he's currently the best we've got and the side has an incredible win ration when he does play. That said, if he's struggling as much as he obviously is at his age, I can't see him being able to continue for many more seasons - a real pity as he could be a very decent player and the closest we've had to another Morgan since he retired.

agree completely. I think he is a cracking footballer but unfortunately his body is cracking up much too quickly.

As I said, it's a real shame for him and us but this is a harsh world in which we live.

I didn't think I'd be saying this after the first few months of the season, but we need Bash in midfield. Coutts, Baxter and Doyle are too static to play in the same midfield 2 or 3.

If TK is out then play JB and JM at centre back with KF right and BH left. If Bobby is out then move Freeman left and play Flynny right back.

I'm not disagreeing but that would mean all four defenders not playing in their natural positions. Not the end of the world for the odd match but surely not a viable solution going into the play offs.

Its a groin strain. Can happen to anyone who overstretches. His knee is more of a concern, but the most recent problem will be gone soon.

The problem is one serious injury , can lead to other minor , niggle injuries , when your body posture compensates for it , due to all things in one way or another being interlinked . This is were top physiotherapy types earn there money .

Wallace is a great example , when one injury unfortunately leads to another .

True, but I expect TK back soon. Only yesterday, there was a chance he might play.

I really hope that you're right but his knees are a real concern and as a club we can't afford to gamble

So what's the actual issue with his knees? I thought he'd picked up a ligament strain/ tear a few weeks back rather than it being a debilitating knee issue

tbh I don't know. I'm hoping for the best and fearing the worst.

I really really hope that I'm suffering from typical Blades pessimism with respect to Tel because as a player I love him to bits

Yeah I picked out your post as you seem quite vocal about his dodgy knees, I presumed I'd just missed the OS article about how his knees were worse than del Geary's, Ledley king's and Paul McGrath combined...

So basically its as you were, he's had one long term knee injury (acl if I remember correctly a few years back) which he made a full recovery and recently he did a ligament, but we don't know which one, probably the medial or pcl given the time it took to recover.

Playing one game then resting for a couple is pretty normal as he maybe had some swelling after the game at dingledongleland.

Unless he sustained further damage but sounds unlikely if he was touch and go this week

Freeman was like a fish out of water when he switched against Donny! As did Alcock when he came on, defence a worry, could do with 2 Bashams in the team, looks equally happy either CB or midfield.

He has nowt but a sliver of cartilage in one of his knees. The odds of that seeing him through a career seem slim.

That said, I don't think we should discard him, just use him as backup. Any contract he earns will take account of his knee. It ain't his fault we've failed to recruit a first choice centre back.
