The board have deff put money into the club but can be misguided in how they do it. J.Brayford being an example of signing a player for a massive amount of money that could have been used elsewhere. We could also question spending £1 million on a new pitch that could have been diverted in to the first team.

We can also question how much investment we would have seen without the cup runs and player sales we have had since the new regime arrived.

And before we start talking about debts that we had, they would have known about that before coming on board.

I for one don't see the purpose or benefit of mentioning 6 figure bids. As others have said I would be happy with players who can do the job we require if they cost owt or nowt. 1 perm signing and 2 loans for example.

Further up the thread it's apparently a fact that we bought him for £3 millions.

Where are everyone getting these so called facts from?

Mr Fact from The Fact Shop.
£2 each standard or three for a £5.
£1.50 for the basic, £10 for a FACT.

£20 will get a cubic-zirconia encrusted.

Now, that's a FACT!

Do people forget we spent £2m last January?

No ...... I haven't forgotten that we spent ~ £2m ..... 4 months too late last January .....

That was some of the Harry money I suppose .... or perhaps some of the Cup run money from previous years ....or maybe some of the " game changing investment" ?

I think he covered every base when talking about the JTW. Six figure bids made, refused, still on the table, playing in clubs 1st team, got to be better than what we have. Mindful of size of squad, wages that incurs, consistency of team at moment, don't want to change for sake of. Wants to move players out with eleven days to go and by the sound of it little interest in many of them it don't sound promising roll on June. Fifteen minutes still no wiser, as usual it's wait and see.

we can get up via the play offs as worse sides than our current one have
Doncaster and Yeovil werent that good for example , but yes we do need 2 or 3 quality players to really enhance our chances rather than trust to luck

SIX figures = >£100,000

If I was a manager I'd only do the interviews I was contractually obliged to do. I'd only answer 'yes' 'no' 'don't know' 'can't say'. My approach would be 'give me time to do my job, then judge me on what I've done and not what I've said'.

I wouldn't fuck about having my words analysed to death and it certainly wouldn't be my job to be an apologist for the board.

£999,999 is a six figure bid. And where is it reported the turned down bids were for ageing has-beens?

I'm not being a blind clapper with that question, and after years of under achieving I get why you would make a statement like this, but the current regime HAS spent money, and NA (who doesn't strike me as a bare faced liar) has said funds are available.

Might be better to wait until we have, or haven't recruited before commenting.

I think the point is that the serious recruitment should have been made in July / August when there was still a chance of competing for the top two places rather than waiting months to recruit for the well known historic deficiencies in our bloated "quality free" squad .....

Agree with that, left it to late last year to get us over the line and are we appear to be repeating that mistake this year.

"If you commit the same mistake more than once, it is no longer considered a mistake. It's a conscious decision."

We have had game changing investment, we might have been relegated or gone into admin without it.

"Think Liverpool" comment was made in reference to the investment strategy, ie it would be a staged process, not a big hit ie "Dont think Man City". But no one wants to remember the whole statement do they...

Lets be clear here ....... the " game changing investment " was alluded to be in the playing squad, not on servicing debt, paying wages fitting new dug-out seats and laying new pitches .....

On that basis ...... we have not seen " game changing investment " !!

depends which theory you subscribe to

on paper we finished 5th last year and got to the league cup semis o from outside looked to just need tweeking up a notch or two
had we had an incumbant manager who knew who was capable and who wasnt , the chances are recruitment would have moved on a gear
but Adkins was in the neutral zone, some flattered to decieve pre season and it only showed up how bad it was at Gillingham
Then we rallied went on a run which again masked the need
been better if we had lost a couple more then and had our hand forced

Or worse ...... gross incompetence .....

Spending money in pre-season wouldn't have guaranteed us a top two place in January.
Spending money in the JTW won't guarantee us a top two/play off place in May.

Spending money doesn't guarantee anything.
All it proves is that the club has money to spend.

Hold on cowboy.
Is that the not so good Yeovil Town who dismantled a Sheffield United side, blindfolded and both arms tied behind their backs with consummate ease?
come on you keep saying how bad we are, we could have should have won by more at the lane so they didnt get the chance
they only just squeaked past a side devoid of belief

and within 36 months Yeovil
were bottom of division 2

To be fair ...... anybody who watched the DVDs of last seasons games should have easily identified the glaring, massive ( sorry ), historic deficiencies in our Cup tarts squad ...... even Stevie Wonder could see it !

Bloody hell, why not just "No Comment" the entire interview? Could see the fans really taking to you!

Billy Sharp doesn't count as "serious recruitment"? Would you care to explain why?

and in those 36 months we're still in L1.
rambling on here, inanely pondering whether we should have kept Clough, sold Murphy, debating incessantly about Adkins' ...
etc blah, blah, blah...

They may be in L2, but if comparisons are to be made, we're failing greater.
Unfortunate.

cant see how
they could be non league in may we still have a chance of the championship
its hardly a million miles away

What the fuck does he mean when he says it's up to the football club Whether they turn down bids

Billy Sharp doesn't count as "serious recruitment"? Would you care to explain why?

Billy is one player in one position who is now on a good run but has also been on a crap run as well where he didn't deserve the shirt. He doesn't solve the problems of this squad, which is not good enough to be promoted.

No ..... that's not right at all and we know it.

When a team comes in for one of your players you have to say yes ( reluctantly ). Its the rules ......
