Can’t take any list seriously that has Jags in I’m afraid.
We’re not here for sentiment and I’m afraid he’s now well PST his best for the premier league, and we don’t need another coach or ambassador for the club.

We move on.

I know you won't like this but... I think it will be beneficial to our efforts next season.

I don’t think you understand you importance of having an hugely experienced top level player like jags in the squad and dressing room. Egan will be the main man in the central position but we should absolutely sign jags as long as wages were reasonable which I think they will be.

We can get better than Assombalonga and Freeman/Pritchard

I'm not saying I'm the biggest fan of the 3 players you've just mentioned ... But this is the realistic level of player we're looking at... and I trust CW to bring the best out of these players.
I was wondering though... Who do you think we should be going for?

Who’s update is that?

I'm not keen on Jags either btw.

But maybe we'll have a paltry budget and have to 'old man' our way to survival...

Jags is hardly an old man at 36 when he’s really looked after himself throughout his career and with modern sports science he still has much to offer on and off the pitch!

I do understand the importance of such a player, it’s just that Jags is no longer a top level player, it’s as simple as that.
The model we will adopt will be the model we have maintained since Wilder arrived. Jags isn’t in that model so it will be a huge shift for him to be considered

I think Jags is in that model. CW signed Norwood for his presence on the pitch of course, but also his experience and expertise in a promotion push. Norwood would've helped immensely with the psychology involved last year. I think Jags will do that this year for us. So in that regard he does fit the model.

But he’s no longer a top level player! Norwood was certainly a top level player in the championship last season and added the experience too.
Jags WAS a top player up to two years ago then he started to struggle. He can’t get in an Everton side that’s hardly top class, and would have struggled to push out one of our back three last season!

So still a no.

We don’t necessarily need players with Prem experience, we have international players, we just need players giving their best and not afraid to try. Luckily our manager is an expert at getting his players to do that,

Let’s not waste the budget on has beens and past glories. We need every bit of it to improve the starting 11.

I think Assombalonga would be a great signing, Wilder will improve him no end. Pace, powder and can finish, what's not to like?
like a faster, stronger version of Jose Baxter then? He could finish and he always had the 'powder' side if things covered 🤣.
I agree about Assombalonga tho mate. Reckon CWAK will have him firing on all cylinders in no time. Was surprised to hear recently that hes only 26year old aswell. Seems to have been about for ever.

class is permanent. I think he'd cut it with another season in the prem, especially so under CW, the players playing for him have proved the doubters wrong time and time again about being 'over the hill' or 'past it'

I don't know whether it's the physio team or man management but it seems he has a magic touch in regards to this. Half of us on here were saying Billy's legs had gone and look what happened... I'd say let's give Jags a chance tbh

I think the Jags thing is gonna be one of those which divides opinion.
I would welcome him back all day long. As I'm sure you would too. But I do appreciate he's not your preferred option.
He would be free though do don't worry about the budget 😊

When the season starts in August he'll be 37

Not for me and I'm guessing not for CW

Jags has had his day at the Lane

We should move on imo

There is a danger when really good players are winding down there careers and Jags is one of those, Wilder usually steers clear of those players so if we take him you can bet he has something to offer.
Could be a real last challenge for him , he probably would be a bit part player but knowing Jags he will push for a regular start which would be great for competition.
His know how and experience would be invaluable I don't believe at his age he would command a big wage especially if hes trying to get into coaching
It's a big YES from me.

If he wants to sit on the bench for £5k a week then that’s fine by me.

Naughton on a free? He has a year left on his contract.
