Like I've said before I'm speaking with hindsight and if McC had paid the players enough to keep them he would have seen as a total fruit basket but histroy shows that the money wasted on loans could have kept four good players and I'm sure those players would have put us in with a chance of going up two seasons ago.

What happens is we spend the same amount and finish up where?

Exactly still had one of the highest wage bills in the championship and most of that money had gone on wank loan players which we have been told a number of times we would not rely on.

So really you are right we could of offered that little bit to keep real talent at the club as opposed to spending stupid wages on a guy with a 50 pence head.

I am totally disillusioned with United and fed up as well.

It would not suprise me if McCabe said - Yes you can have Slew as long as its a straight swap for the Michael Jackson statue

...and sticks it on the car park as Chris kamara

We've rejected an offer for Slew from Fulham.

if they really want him, they'll get him. It's just a matter of time. Still it's good to know that the 1st bid wasn't accepted straightaway.

I think we should sell him and bring one of the youngsters through to replace him...................... there must be someone half decent in the under 15s

Just hang on a little longer. Another £500 should sway it!

Apparantly, another NE prem club are talking to another one of our youngsters

I'd like to ask McCabe a question:

How the f'k to you expect to integrate the academy players when you you are selling the ones that might be cappable of stepping up?

When McCabe planted the seed about how we can't stop the academy players from moving to a prem club, you just knew he'd already got the enquiries lined up with them. It was so f'kin obvious!

You can stop em Kev. They are under contract so....................................................say no!

We have said no but if you give us MJ statue then its a deal.

How would people feel with 3 million plus Riise? I realise this values young Jordan at 4/5 million but tough, if they want him they can pay stupid money for him.

i would take riise and 3mil. Rumour is slew wants out

Wait for a week or two until the riotous behaviour over hiring Wilson dies down then come back with an offer and he is yours.

If the figure of £2m is anywhere near the mark for a totally unproven, albeit promising striker then I will drive Slew there.

Forget about recent events and realise that this sort of money will prove to be extremely useful to Wilson assuming he is allowed to use any of it !!!

Where fans will be angry is that they will see any fee received used to subsidise Hendo / Cress et als wages and on this point I am also none too pleased.

What a mess Wilson has to try and sort out.

We still have a shortfall in the Cashflow forecast from the beginning of the year, McCabe wont see any of this Slew money (if he is sold) but it will save him loaning some more to the Club.

As for Danny Wilson seeing any of it, ha, ha, ha, ....... etc

Obviously I'd prefer the high earners off the wage bill first, but if Fulham/whoever come in with a serious bid then it will have to be considered just like any other bid for a player.

I would say the majority of his impact last season comes from him being able to do the basics which so many senior players seemed unable to do. His movement is good and he will try and lay a ball off to what is usually the best option, but he lacks the pace to trouble most defences. He doesn't seem to be overly strong in the air either. He does seem to be in the right place when the ball drops in and around the area, but the same should be said of any body who considers themselves a forward.

So I would agree with the "promising" tag but he doesn't fall into the "talented" category that Jags and the Kyles were. Without the rose-tinted glasses on I would also have to say that he's not the saviour the fans believe him to be. Slew isn't strong enough to play every game and if he is only named on the bench or not named at all then should a result not go our way then DW gets it in the neck. We need a very strong first 11 who we should be looking at playing every game possible and unfortunately Slew in our current squad could quite easily become a poison challace because he isn't capable enough for the demands of a full season. For these reasons I can see his sale being seriously considered by any manager, but DW will be judged that bit harder on his sale. The right players would have to be brought in pretty sharpish with the proceeds.

Don't get me wrong, I would want to keep him under our current circumstances - but he is no Rooney or similar young startlet. He wouldn't be im my starting 11 if DW is allowed to trade and in moving out the big earners can recruit some hungry players. Slew might be a good bench player this season, but I'd say a player with a handful of senior seasons should score twice as many goals than one who still seems very raw. The other question is, would he be happy with a less advanced role if a PL club has been sniffing around?

he came in and scored goals when no other striker could find the net. he might not or ever be the finished article - but one minute we're supposed to be youth-heavy next season, now we're looking at selling said youth and its not even the end of may yet. as for slew wanting to go - why the hell would he want to? hes just got to the final of the youth cup and scored goals for the first team... are we supposed to be picking up on rumours that hes a big time charlie then?

I think every player has a value and every player has a price. I think Slew is probably worth £1.5 - £2 million but I'd wouldn't take less than We'd probably have to go out and pay a fee and better wages than Slew is on to replace him, plus selling one of the two or three youngsters ready for the first team destroys McCabes latest vision of the Bladesway. We can make £1.5 million by giving Ched and Boggy free transfers and I believe we could get a fee for them, so I'd dump them and wait until I got an offer for Slew we really can't refuse.

Will this happen? No.

The question i ask is why are we not in the position where we 'poach' Fulham's future talent ?

hey .................... makes yer wunder !

Where fans will be angry is that they will see any fee received used to subsidise Hendo / Cress et als wages and on this point I am also none too pleased.

That's the likely scenario. It's needed either to pay their wages, or pay their contracts off so we can build again.

We've got to chew on a few more poo-sandwiches yet...

Slew would be a tool if he joined Fulham. The only reason why they want him is that they can't fill a 25 man squad for the eufa cup next season. If he wants to move then get ready to be loaned back out as soon as Fulham land back in the UK from being knocked out.
