Morning ladies and gents -

As you've already seen, the club have appointed John Garrett as Supporter Liaison Officer in line with the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.

According to the UEFA press release:

"They [the SLOs] inform supporters about relevant decisions made by the club's management board and, in the other direction, communicate the needs of the fans to the board, as well as building relationships – not just with various fan groups and initiatives, but with the police and security officers."

United are still feeling their way a bit with it but John has said he'll meet with representatives from fan groups on a monthly basis and with this forum's membership and reach, we're one of the groups of fans who have been approached, alongside mods of the other internet boards, members of supporters clubs and fan groups... I'm sure they'll make themselves known.

John remains accessible directly down at the Legends of Lane and via email, but with the scope of our fanbase, both here and abroad, the amount of potential people contacting him could be overwhelming. To that end, we've been asked to act as a vehicle for getting information to John and vice versa.

Obviously, we know that the idea will have detractors in a bread and circuses kind of way, but from our point of view, we'd rather be in a position to be kept in the loop and know that we can approach the club with our members' and readers' concerns. And from the club's point of view, the position is mandatory and JG first and foremost is a fan who wants the best for fans.

Ultimately, most of your enjoyment on a matchday will be down to what you see on the pitch and that's in Danny Wilson's remit, not ours and certainly not the SLO's. And we hope there will be plenty of chances for you to put your point of view across in forums and Q&As in person.

But, for the exiles in particular, if there's anything you'd like to raise or an idea you'd like the club to look at and feel unable to contact them directly, Foxy and myself and these other fans and fan groups are here to act as go-betweens.

If it's anything you don't want to pop on an open thread on the forum, drop us a PM or email: postbag @s24su.com
