Based on how poorly we performed against sides around us last season and how far off the pace we finished, I would disagree. I've said for a while the side lacks balance and quality in key areas. At the moment we simply arent equipped for a top six challenge.

We also beat two play-off teams in the run-in

We definitely need an experienced centre back and focal point striker as a must but we could conceivably start with a midfield of Yeates, Willo, McAllister and Squinny which is hardly shabby.

Brighton apparently 'out-footballed' everyone in the division last season and the three or four times I saw them, they were hardly anything special.

and George Long ! To be honest, I think certain appearances were purely to make up numbers towards the end of the season and whilst I can see Philliskirk, McAllister featuring, I don't think Long will be anywhere near the squad for example.

As I say, it was just to guage how the squad was looking without relying on youth. I'm sure we could well have a squad of 25-30 players at this point if we include everyone who's been on the bench.

From hearing how Tonne was actively involved in creative play for the Reserve I think he should have featured more than other youngsters and I don't think bringing him on for the last couple of minutes really allowed him to get involved. I think if he shows the same form he could become a regular player really. I suppose we'll see.

By all accounts they were excellent for Leeds down here, so maybe this is their level.

I am guessing doyle is monty's replacement, as for collins we probably need to keep him until morgs is back

Fuck Leeds (although I hate them that much I'd love them to be lumbered), surely Stockport are in the money now. Everyone has a level . . .

However, if push comes to shove I'll chip in a ton.

I don't give a monkeys if we don't get promoted next season. Top priority for me is trimming the wage bill, and bringing youngsters through.

Surely getting promoted would be the prime aim, with what you say being secondary. Promotion means more cash, which means the wage bill doesn't become such a problem. Staying in League One means less money and even more wage cuts.
