Unusual favourite player

Marcelo, remember him scoring at Birmingham on sky sports. He took his shirt off and had another on underneath. Ref didn't know what to do.
Couple more for no reason fjortoft, Neilson & Simon Tracey (he was nuts)
I'm going with Marcelo too - the shirt under your shirt is mind bending like a Portuguese Brazilian Russian doll

Not exactly a favourite, but Rob Ullathorne will always be remembered fondly by me and my dad. One game we realised he was the only outfield player in the team not to have scored that season, so we started calling him 'Hattrick Rob' ironically. When he moved on, 'Hattrick' became a title we would give to someone who'd never scored for us (and probably least likely to). If he ever did score it made the goal a little bit more special, and then we'd pass the title on to the next most deserving.

Sometimes we've had to work hard at finding entertainment at games in the last 15 years...

Growing up as a kid in the 70's my favourite player was the winger Steve Heighway at Liverpool
Then in the early 80's used to like another winger John Robertson at Forest and of course I was transfixed and fascinated by the ball juggling skills, tricks and flicks of our very own Alex Sabellla.

In more recent times I used to really like watching Don Hutchison when he played for us.
And this season I've found Mark Duffy a joy to watch, hard to believe he's been a journeyman in the lower divisions when he has so much ability.

I don't think that Carl Asaba deserved the bad rep he got to be honest.

Asaba was great for us in the Championship but (a bit like Danny Webber) he was a confidence player.
He struggled in his early games in the PL and his confidence suffered.
Always appreciate what he did for us in the Championship though.

Jonas Wirmola and Richard Lucas. I thought they both played really well in the few games they had for us and was convinced they would go on to have long and distinguished careers here or elsewhere. That both shuffled off almost unnoticed to become bywords for obscurity probably explains my lack of a career in football circles!

Colin Addison was my first favourite player in January 1970 because there was a photo of him in the Smash "My favourite Soccer Stars" album. Two months later Alan Woodward replaced Addison as my favourite Blade

Glen Cockerill - reight footballer. Never gets the credit on here that he deserves

Totally agree. Consistently very good every match, great engine, hard worker with a great attitude.
He was comfortably our best player and you could see he was destined for the top flight.
I suppose he doesn't get the plaudits because he seemed to lack personality and never seemed to form any bond with the fans.

God knows why not. He was brilliant

My entry is Darius Henderson.

Also rated Leigertwood. It was absolutely ridiculous how our fans mocked him. And that Robson sold him.

Marcelo is a great shout. Remember The Star used to call him John Marcelo? I'm sure thst wasn't his name.

Loved Jan Aage but he is hardly unusual. Couple of other 'strange' favourites of mine in the red and white:

Chris Short - shame he got injured. Had a great understanding with Mitch Ward and was an attacking overlapping right back before they were fashionable.

George Donis - the forgotten Greek but my god did he have a box of tricks.

Scot Marshall. Lad we had on loan from Arsenal. Classiest centre half I had ever seen at the time. Shocked he never made it.

This year reminds me of the spackman team with a happy ending and Lee was a part of that. Nice guy too.

Beesley was a great reader of a game but not the best technically

That was my first era, mid to late 90's.

The likes of Sandford, David Holdsworth, Graham Stuart, Gareth Taylor, Wayne Quinn, Katchouro, Fjortfoft obviously.

We could've achieved more than we did if it wasn't for all the disarray in the boardroom at the time.

Tony Field, strangest player i've ever seen in red and white, but he did score a blinder at the Kop end,i think against Ipswich.

Do you remember the run of 'zico' goals!? Southampton, Forest, Man City, etc.

Article about Mike. When he broke into the team in the promotion season looked like the midfielder we needed who ran with the ball from midfield and played the ball on the ground. He had a great game in cup game vs Bournemouth but broke is leg at Ipswich just as he had broken into the first team.
He never looked the same player despite the purple patch of wonder strikes.

Always had a soft spot for Cambell-Ryce (my lord). Despite his insistence on beating the same man 4 times before crossing it to the opposite corner flag, I always thought he was worth having as an option rather than being sent out on loan.

My pick too from recent years. A fun player to watch, who also gets plaudits for saying he hates the Pigs.

Pleased to see him score a fluke goal for Barnet a couple of weeks ago - the keeper misjudged a cross and it went straight it.
