for a starter the closed season , its happening now
the League cup lets face it its a waste of space
caribou and random clubs under 23 farce, clogging up fixtures
International breaks 6 weeks a season wasted, have the minnows knock each other out like in the fa cup then add the big boys later
England playing qualification games v Gibraltar or germany playing Scotland and Spain playing Andorra are a waste of space in these times
pre season friendlies , wont be the need with not much of a gap
Garth Crooks , there's enough inane drivel on tv
Sheffield Wednesday accounts , they are all fantasy anyway

They should make the league cup for the EFL only and drop the Football League Trophy.

they could have a prem cup in time 13th to 17th and the three promoted club ,ie 8 clubs whittle down to 4 , top 12 join in then the 16 left play straight knock out so one can win some silverware its only 4 dates needed after the bottom 8 round

Nope! Can't give you a like for that mate, even though I did for your original suggestion.

The last thing we need is to introduce yet another irrelevant cup - and one which potentially rewards "failures" - which is what you are suggesting here when you talk about having a competition for those who finish in the bottom half but don't quite get relegated!

We can't even stimulate enough interest in the famous old FA Cup - never mind invent another one!

You were doing so well, as well, with your original post!;)

I think that's unnecessary but the top clubs have to justify spending 500m a season so would need a trinket and a mini cup would assuage their need

Get rid of home and away games in qualifying groups - straight draw, lucky or not, job done - this halves the World Cup, European tournaments etc.

Sky Sports and BT?......Fuck ‘em.

Great thread for us Victor Meldrew types. This could be really therapeutic. 👍 👍 Right, here we go....
1) The entire pre match theatrical ra- ra-ra shite ten minute build up. Specifically:
a) that cardboard archway thingy the players walk through. I only see it sideways on anyway. It's like summat from an infant school play backdrop.
b) the match ball pedestal. Just give the ref the ball beforehand like before
c) the vertical flame throwers- although I do concede, even from the kop, the momentary heat blast is welcome in January.
d) and, god forbid, that "light show" for evening matches. I've seen more coordinated, colourful and entertaining spectacles when my mate dropped his spanner on the power bus bars at Attercliffe telephone exchange.
e) The players' introductions hand shakes/ elbow bumps whatever: if they were really arsed to know who they are playing, they could just look at the programme team list like the rest of us.
f) the sheer volume of the announcements/music. Nobody around me can possibly hear my incessant whingeing clearly enough.

This could go on a long time... I may be back;)

Commentators on televised games.

By all means have an option to switch on commentary for the sake of blind people, but why on earth do I need some boring windbag to throw out useless stats, tired cliches and describe to me what Im looking at with my own eyes?

“Norwood... passes out to Baldock...”

I fucking know he has; BECAUSE I’M WATCHING IT

Just give me the crowd noise and maybe somebody to chip in now and again to tell me if a sub is coming on. I don't need some arsehole screaming a players name like they are hitting the vinegar strokes every time they have a shot from the edge of the box.

You can’t be serious!

All seater stadiums.

Stewards searching EVERYBODY.

The overly fragmented TV rights.

Robotic social media guidelines for players.

The racism obsession.

Half the media.

The extremely petty use of VAR.

Amazon having the option to turn commentators off was a great idea.

I cant even play FIFA with the sound on. For years, I just mute it and put some music or a podcast on.

I don't mind Neville as a co-commentator although he does come out with the odd bit of crap at times. I can't stand Carragher or Owen ( I think he has been banned from doing co comms on BT now )

I'd be pleased as punch if united won the League Cup and in all seriousness it may be the best thing we have a realistic chance of winning. This season the PL has only 2 'super' teams and Man City have been careless, next season it could be back up to 5.

I dont mind the analysis before, at HT and after- so long as its somebody who actually contributes something interesting or useful. Neville does and personally I do quite like Carragher.

Commentators are necessary just to tell me who's on the ball when watching anyone not completely familiar. When they actually bother to do that at least.

But if we want unnecessary then Martin Tyler's "AND IT'S LIVE" is about as tired as the man himself....
