You had more faith in us than we did!

The only way United can go up is if we take the league by storm early on and let the rest do the chasing - see our last promotion to the Premiership. If we're in the chasing pack, when it comes to crunch time, we always bottle it.

I think we thought that you lot would mount a more serious challenge too. Any rumours on your manager coming to us?

Next season will be really tough, we need to stop the rot!

Peterborough ,Wolves if they get rid of Saunders and Bristol will be stronger than the teams going up ,likewise Toytown Bradford P Vale and Gills will be much stronger than the shit going down .

After that shambles I guess Maguire will be going in the summer and I suspect we will cash in on Long as Howard recovers and Willis will be a year older. Higgingbotham will remain as a centre half, unfortunately.

Cant see who else will be sold (beecause who else is saleable) unless someone wants a reasonably creative midfielder with no balls!

Hard to see how making a small number of changes will make a difference, so unless we make wholesale changes and renew the whole squad - like Charlton did, I can't see us troubling the automatic spots next season. However, you can guarantee that if we did make such drastic and swathing changes that we would fuck up majorly.

I thought Maguire looked slow and ponderous again - be surprised if anyone much higher than us comes in for him.

Absolutely spot on, I think we'll have to do some sort of 'bogof' deal, or even scrap some and sell others for parts!

It's not fool proof by any means but it's the only way we can do it. For instance, our last three play-off final defeats have come when we've finished 3rd - IE mounted an assault on automatic that ultimately fell short, rather than as a team resurgent, charging headlong into the play-offs on a wing and a prayer. We are also masters of the failed play-off bid, finishing 8th/9th a speciality.
