Again from yesterday's matchday programme: " ...Gary was the manager's first choice striker and we are delighted that he will be joining the squad. He is the second player to bolster the ranks in the early part of January, following the signing of Kieran Dowell on loan from Everton for the remainder of the season.
These two signings were the number one priorities in their positions for the January window. I am pleased that not only did we get the manager's first choices, but we also signed them promptly in order to maximise their impact for the second half of the season. Signing players early is always the aim"...

He's very keen to point out these player's were the first choices, no?
Is that first choice given his budget, or first choice? I expect the former.

"Unfortunately, you may also be aware that the women's team has been caught up in an alleged racism incident. At the time of writing an investigation, in conjuction with the FA, into the complaint is underway and without wanting to compromise any possible outcome, I can confirm the club does not condone racism in any form. We will impose the strongest possible sanctions if anyone is found guilty in this incident or any other".

Some folk just can't resist twatting the club I guess

Purely on a footballing basis, I'm as pleased as punch with both signings. They are both areas which needed strengthening and we probably got the best we could with the budget we have available.

Kudos to CW. He also showed again that he isn't afraid to make difficult decisions if he thinks they are the right ones to make for our club.

The more I see of this season, the more I think we could do the impossible and get promoted. Still, let's take it a game at a time and not get too giddy just yet. Long way to go.

I think you missed the joke, which was unfolded later on in the thread. First choice is always related to budget, unless we think Wilder sees Dowell as a better player than Messi, and the budget is 500 million or so. Thanks for the ironical dig though.

I understood perfectly well what was being said by you .

Your reply indicates the opposite, unlike Chali2na's. You had a dig at moi - ironic given the sententious manner of your post. I'll not lose any sleep. No hard feelings.Things get lost in translation.
