Any good blades bits in it? As I really don’t fancy listening to an hour of David Edgar.

My main memory was him having a very sharp haircut. Definitely wasn’t the worst of that bunch at the time.

Listened to most of it and no, basically. He said he liked playing for us, liked the club, liked Adkins, thought he played well though it was not a good season. Adkins told him he'd like him to come back the following year, but then Adkins got fired and Wilder wasn't interested in him, so he went to MLS.

Podcast was okay generally. The Tony Pulis one last week was better.

Parky hates Wednesday!!

"Sheffield Wednesday biggest club in the world, they must have brought 9 million fans today"! Quality! Big soft spot for Barnsley personally because it's a club I relate to and they don't like Wednesday for the same reasons everyone else locally doesn't like them! Sadly though we have to live in the same city as them!

Sheffield Wednesday biggest club in the world, they must have brought 10 million fans today

While the sincerity in his tone is there many years later, and regret is also evident, listening to that, seeing the body language and the words used, I’d bet my house there was never a letter.

Such a shame for Sid. Top bloke. Top player.

I didn't think he sounded sincere I think he was trying to. He knows his response to this at the time was cowardly.

Maybe it was false and pre meditated responses to a question he knew would come and thus could pre rehearse his answer. I’ll give you that.

But let’s not kid ourselves that the lad has not been public enemy #1 since that fateful day and thus Utd fans are not exactly predisposed to anything other than hating his guts !!!!

The cunt should have done the right thing then.

That letter never saw a letterbox.

It's a reinvention of the past.

He admits to going over the ball yet claims the assault wasn't deliberate, don't know about you but the art of feigning sincerity was never better revealed than in Ainsworth's version of what happened.

“I wrote him a letter”.
What an absolute load of bollocks.
I hate him even more now.
Se to recall Whitehouse said that Ainsworth said he'd sent a letter but he never received it. Sending a letter isn't the best type of communication, he should have rang Whitehouse personally in my view to apologise.

He doesn't come across well and doesn't sound that sincere. He just makes excuses for not doing the right thing.

I knew before the podcast came out his answers would make me angry.
I think he probably is sad about it from watching the video but sadly he didn't handle it right by not seeing Dane etc. in essence he probably neshed it knowing the tackle was awful.

If he'd not had a reply with the letter he should have contacted Dane by phone but that's just my view.

I'm probably one of the few who forgives Ainsworth partly due to my nature, partly my faith as a Christian, but I'm just a fan of united rather than closer to the club or family etc.

As many of us think, the letter never got sent.

No matter what faith you are, the only person who has the right to show or not to show forgiveness is Dane himself.

Our opinion as far as forgiveness is concerned is immaterial.

Writing a letter assumes a level of effort and thought, surely if you’d had the care to write a letter you’d make sure it had got there and followed it up or something… which leads me to believe there was no letter and Ainsworth is lying.

You can tell he is lying just from the way he talks about it and he knows he isn't going to get much pushback from those three.

So much time has past now that there is fuck all he could say or do to put it right.

Surely you'd follow up a letter anyway - especially if you got no response? It's also pretty shitty to not see Dane in person.Wouldn't you find out how someone is getting on later on in their life too, and help them out if you could. At least over the next year or so until you know they've rebuilt their life?

It rings hollow, but it's always going too when he's been put on the spot rather than initiating the apology. He'd be better off admitting he made a huge, unforgivable fuck up; sincerely apologised for acting like a massive a cunt, whilst being totally open about his reasons (fear, cowardice, anxiety, not giving a fuck etc etc) - even if he comes off badly. He doesn't really explain his reasons, he just blames it on his youth. It's not far off a non apology apology.

He doesn't give a convincing reason why he didn't follow it up that's for sure.

Even if there was a letter, it was the bare minimum he could have done, and then didn't even bother to follow it up. Fucking coward.
