Underwhelmed

Not really underwhelmed, just really didn't think it was going to go like this, this quickly. Only a mad man would think we'd have been in for £18m pound players now.

I enjoy the odd thread bump like this so long as no one rubs the poster's nose in it. Pretty harmless really.

Fair enough.

Does show though how people occasionally judge too early or let their knee jerk without any resistance. Amazing how many players (or managers) get written off before they'd had a proper chance.

That should be tatooed on the inside of everyone's eyelids.

I seem to think Duffy, Egan, Norwood and Enda were written off as underwhelming by various experst who'd never seen them play or had no idea how well they'd fit it.

Of course everyone is allowed an opinion but equally any players should be given a fair crack of the whip before being written off.

If everyone took it on the chin and replied with a lighthearted comment when they are reminded they got something wrong, there would be no forums?
Am I allowed to point out that you've got that one wrong?

Point out whatever want.
ZA has already done what you said he should have.
Just pointing that out.

I recall it was actually Arthur Rowley and not Harris who signed Dave Powell from Wrexham, along with Ted Hemsley (who'd been his captain at Shrewsbury) and Eddie Colquhoun from WBA. Although Harris made a number of great signings, Flynn from Workington, Dearden from Chester, Reece from Newport and of course he paid the princely sum of £26,500 to Watford for TC.

I gave the original OP a like, but it seems we might be starting to turn a corner now, so I'll keep my powder dry a little longer :)

Christ some people here are defensive. It's pretty interesting to read what people say at certain times. I love going back and re-visiting pre-season predictions. No one gets things right all the time. Bumping this thread isn't exactly a personal affront to the OP or anyone else who didn't love the appointment. Grow up.

I would argue looking back at the preseason predictions for a season just gone is a little different than going back 3 years to when the club was in a very different position and had just appointed its 8th manager in five years.

I have no doubt that bumping this thread back up was done for petty point scoring.

Rowley signed Flynn too. Also Graeme Crawford and John Tudor

I slated the McGoldrick signing on here and was proved wrong. We all making sweeping statements at times.

I’ll say one now. £20m is a lot for McBurnie, I hope you’re all quoting this and pulling me up for my deluded comment in 12 months time.

Cobbler here , gutted to have lost wilder but going to you guys has eased the pain , it was no secret he wanted this job , he will get you promoted and if you want an example of passion check out his post match speech after notts county away on you tube .The bloke is a ledgend , good luck in your promotion ,would love to see him manage you in the prem

You lucky bastard.

I have said on numerous threads over the last three years how delighted I am to be proved wrong over the Wilder appointment.

I could show you a few great sages on here who thought David Weir was the right man at the time he was appointed but going back and bumping those threads back up would be petty and pointless in my humble opinion.

I was happy we appointed Weir.

Even happier when we sacked him.

Not half as happy as I am now though.

During the last couple of games under Atkins I felt at my all time low supporting the Blades (and yes, I do remember the Don Givens 'penalty'!) I'd still renewed my season ticket, but I must admit I was thinking .... there must be better things I could be doing with my time than coming to the Lane on a freezing cold winters night and watching that shower of shite under Adkins. (That Scunthorpe game :oops: ffs!)

When we appointed Wilder my mood started to change. It wasn't really his past record, it was his enthusiasm and 'saying it how it was' type attitude. I just felt that finally we had got one of our own. He would run through brick walls for the club, so I was pretty confident his players would run through brick walls for him.

I never in a million years believed we'd be where we are now so quickly. But I am full of confidence for next season. I can see us quite comfortably staying up ... perhaps ending up on about 45 points. 🙏🙏

53% win rate will be around 57 points?

I couldn't be happier, as I believe the board have made an inspired appointment. They have appointed a manager on the up, unlike Adkins, a manager who is well past his sell by date. Not only has Wilder just managed a team to win their league as champions, but he is a Sheffiled lad and also a fan and ex-player. He gets what the fans expect, from his previous spells with the club.
At some point a manager is going to be the right one and I'm convinced it will be Wilder. He will have the advantage over anybody else who may have taken over, because as a fan, he will know all about the players. This will be a great advantage when doing the retained list. Adkins was not only useless as a manger, but was arrogant enough to think he could get away with slagging of the fans. Wilder is one of us, not a plastic, waffling excuse of a manger, like Adkins. Could not be happier.
Omg what a post, with that kind of foresight can you give me next weeks lottery numbers :-)

Well I've only read the first half dozen or so posts but I'll say you're a winner on this one!
I enjoy looking back too but didn't post on this thread, I'm surprised I managed to hold my tongue I was filled with apathy by the time we appointed Wilder.

I'm underwhelmed by the state of the pointing on this. Surprised its been passed by the inspectors. If anyone from the club is reading, I'll do it £50/sqm.

You could point that as many times as you like, it’ll still look shit. Bricks aren’t square. I thought they were badly laid but look at the bottom one.
