Off soon to Shirecliffe to see todays game. Any news on who will be playing? It will be an interesting selection as it is a league fixture we need to win to capitalise on our games in hand, but also bearing in mind the heavy fixture list over the next week or so.

Yes its a 1 o'clock kick off and it's free to watch. You might even get a free teamsheet. Always good to watch the young ones but I don't expect any first team squad players to be in due to the big one tomorrow

Cheers.

I'll be there then tonight it's boxing at SWD club on Heeley Bank Rd.

From what i have heard we have quite a few players injured.

No Semple ( 10 months), Kelly, Graham, Slater, Mallon, Bennett or Gilmoor...................... I would hope Charlesworth gets another run out as should Cummings. Not sure who the back three will be though.

We could be a bit mix and match. Not a great time to be full of injuries as we have 3 games in 5 days !!

Didn't realise we had so many out injured and it must have been the Leeds game when Semple was unnecessarily assaulted, I will miss watching him at the back and Kelly as well particularly as it is against Leeds and we could have a few more injured after this game. Be nice to see the old back four again even without Semple

Whats happened with Semple? Shame because he is supposed to be one of the best and not far off the first team?

Horror tackle from a Leeds forward resulted in an ACL injury and surgery a couple of weeks back. Real shame.

According to my William hill app we're 2-0 up in the 80th minute, no idea of scorers or team though.

85th minute: 3-0 blades

These lads seem to be the real deal at their present level, let's hope that one or two can carry it on through to the seniors.

A great result with all the injuries we had.

Good result 3 - 0 for the Under 23s and if the goals are put up on the web site the 1st and 3rd are well worth a look

We had Eastwood in goal and it must have been his easiest 90 mins he's had all season. We were set up with 4 at the back Charlesworth, Cunmmings, Bainbridge (I am told he has been released by Everton) and Cantrill. Reed played as a holding Mid fielder close in front of the 2 Centre backs and in truth against a poor Leeds side they were never going to loose a goal. The set up was not producing much of a threat from us although we were well in command all through the first 45 mins. That said we should have scored from a corner at the end of the half but a couple of our lads had a go but the ball bobbled to the Leeds Keeper. I have it on good advice that this was a very different Leeds side to the one out at Weatherby and it is no surprise they are propping up the league, not what you would expect from them.
We had Doherty, Johnson (I did not recognise them), and Smith in the middle with Wright and Hallam up front but in truth it was not the high energy game we usually see.
The set up was changed by introducing Mallon as a wing back in place of Cantrill, who had played OK, but the shape with 4 at the back releasing Mallon gave us a fine second 45 mins and the final score flattered Leeds as a second goal for Smith was disallowed. The movement from Mallon to Hallum to Wright who played the ball back to Smith to finish in style was worth me using my buss pass and Hallum also converted in style. Wright scored from the penalty spot after a bit of shirt pulling and it was good to see a bit of discussion between Hallum and Wright as to who should take the kick.
We also had the physios on the park regularly and Wright had his usual confrontation that had a Leeds player booked. He does put in a shift this lad, I do love watching his aggression and skill. Not as much playing out from the back with Semple and Kelly out injured as I like but not to complain as the second half performance was so good.
So its the Lane on Monday night in a cup game against Birmingham. Depending on a game between Stoke and Reading on Saturday we will know if we need at least a point from the game to go through So this will influence who plays as we have a semifinal to play at Fleetwood the next night I think The 23s are going like a train just now but the treatment room must be packed as our resources are being stretched.
All gives great credit to our excellent Academy coaches who keep bring young players through

and MOTM was Ti Smith he just seems to improve game after game and his eye for a goal in impressive There again Jordan Hallam also scored a fine goal and Jake Wright is turn on his own, Give them all the award for the second half

Sorry only just seen this thread...doh...see my match report

Yes really impressed with Tyler Smith. Is the lad Johnson on trial from Man Utd? Know the centre back is from Everton on trial - he played really well I felt and is a big lad. The two centre backs were excellent actually.

Really assured performance. The style of football mirrored the first team. Good passing, patience and wanting to go forward. Off the ball we pressed and made them make mistakes

Seemed so much fitter than opposition - which has been an area we have improved at all levels seemingly. Leeds players wanted full time and kept shouting to each other but had no answer for our attacking play and ability to win most of the 50/50's.

Do not know about Johnson but the Centre back is from Everton and it may have been why Reed was sitting in front of them. They both played well but against weak opposition and the trialist is another right footed player. I do prefer a left side Centre Back to be naturally left footed like the big team. When the team start to move the ball about they are a treat to watch and playing like the big team must be the way to go.
Will you be at the Lane on Monday? If so I look forward to your comments

Who was our No 10?

Love to see a few come through let's have a season or two out of them for a change
Fuck the money

Number 10 was the trialist I think? Johnson - see my report I inadvertently put on a seperate thread.
