Brooks was the stand out and I hope he gets a chance in the first team. He seems to impress consistently. Could possibly replace Chapman.

Hussey went off in the first half with his arm in a sling.

Graham Kelly looks to have plenty of ability.

Skapetis won't be offered a contract. About 5'8 or 5'9, slow, not strong or aggressive and while he seemed technically sound he didn't produce anything impressive.

Can someone tell me Brooks best position? Is he central or outwide, main attributes, someone saying possibly getting first team chance.

When I saw him n preseason he played in the 2 in the 4231 and made some good driving forward runs

I presume this game came too early to give Trani another run out?

Interested to see if he's offered a deal.

Trialist didn't do enough for me can't see him getting anything offered .brooks will be quite a player if we don't rush the lad he still looks 14, a talent though .young graham had a steady game

Right now I'd say he'd be best as an attacking right or left winger.

Not involved at all, bit disappointing.

Can't believe I missed todays game.
My trusted pal who watches quite a few of the games has kindly given his views on the match.

Ramsdale....... Graham Wilson Semple.......... Brown Reed Whiteman Brookes Hussey.... Skapetis Wright Jnr

A cracking game which although the score was a positive it certainly was a hard fought victory. Forest are a very good side and don't get turned over like this very often.

Ramsdale was his usual vocal self. Good distribution and hands and a fantastic penalty save.

Graham at 17 was excellent first half and a little quieter second only due to the forwards playing off the other centre backs. Won his battles first half and scored a goal.

Semple at 18 was also first class. All the play seems to start with him. Long and short passes were good and second half had a right tussle with the Forest centre forward second half. He looks as though he loves a good physical battle.

These two youngsters have now completed 2 U23s games at centre back in the last 48 hours. On a couple of occasions both looked tired towards the end of the match but at this age they really did well. Both big solid youngsters with time to get to the next level.

Wilson was a solid as rock and marshalled the youngsters really well. He was excellent and seems to be back to fitness.

Whiteman and Reed did well. passing the ball and getting stuck in although Whiteman seemed to be moaning a lot at his team mates about one thing or another.

At wing back Kelly came on early for Hussey and to be fair he was fantastic. Worked so hard, a great goal and was very good. Brown was solid and worked hard.

MOM Brookes should be in the first team squad in place of Chapman. He is a talent, a quality player. My pal says he has seen Everton at every 23s game he has watched. I can only think Brookes is his main reason for coming.... a bit worrying

Wright Jnr did his usual hard work and niggled the defence all game....

Skapetis was poor to be honest. Has a good touch and looks quick for 5 yards then nothing. Out muscled from start to finish. Brookes is a mile better than this lad.

A really enjoyable game and a bit pissed off I missed it.....

Seems to like running down the wing and cutting in, when I have seen him. Probably more of an impact sub, as he doesn't have the size or strength of Lafferty or Freeman (that is just my opinion based on seeing him playing in things like the checker turd game, etc.)

It was early after the last game for Trani to play again, but to be fair the youngest lads on the pitch Graham and Semple both played last Saturday also....
I thought Trani was really good. Lets hope we see him again.

Brookes time will come... He, like some of the our youngsters still need to grow into men, and have time to gain the physical strength of a man........ Its all part of the process.

Agree Larky, I didn't mean it to sound bad about the lad, he is very talented, a clever footballer, and to be fair, he doesn't seem to mind getting stuck in physically, he just needs to fill out a bit to take on some of the bigger, stronger players in League 1 (like the Coventry team, for example, who seemed much stronger than most of our team)

I know inclusivity is all that but do we want to sign a Trani?

Perhaps a deal is on the cards for Trani? He's played against United for Nike Academy so we should have enough sight of him to be able to make a decision perhaps.

Having only seen him part of a game, it was obvious he has talent. The topknot counts against him though... :)

I think he is already knocking on the door and putting pressure on one or two first team players.City let him go because they thought he was too
small ,he s shot up in the last year and getting stronger all the time. His quality wasn't in question at city and hopefully we have a real quality player coming through. There are some others too as you know larkymasher but scouts are out in force and it's difficult to keep young players when big money is offered to them ,sometimes the club can't stop them going ,money talks !!.
Rammers is the next one I fear will be picked off, must be very frustrating for the blades.

Sorry Grappler I was making a point. I know your point had no malice in it. All good

I agree, The thing that I have noticed with the under 23s format is that if you perform week in week out at this level, you have an excellent chance at making a living in the game.....

I think the 23s league is far superior to the old 21s format. It just seems to be a physically stronger league.

Haven't seen it yet tbh but it sounds like an improvement. I thought the u21s was too soft, almost like a non-contact sport. I don't think it prepared kids properly.

It's good they've changed it and good that we've got some young players doing very well at this level.
