And the best way of stroking your ego is winning games and developing players that nobody expects anything from. You think he'd rather lose games and struggle to fill the bench with players that will eventually prove they're quality. Nonsense.

Based on that I'm surprised Wilder hasnt said "he's got a big part to play this season".

Would fit in perfectly with all other current Wilder signings.

It's legitimately mental. Is it ego Zatterstrom sat on the bench in Italy and has ended up bottom of the polish league or one lad ended up back in Peru via an uneventful spell in Dunfermline?! Another one went back to Bulgaria didn't he?

There is evidence that they are miles away from championship quality it's not just one managers opinion...

I know we've had our disagreements over Peck, but on this you're bang on the money.

Because we're suddenly playing badly people seem to think the answer is playing these 'names' regardless of what Wilder and the coaches see every day in training.

We saw what happened when Hecky took the gamble with the likes of Slimane and Traore.... But yeah, fuck it, they've got cool names and are a decent on Championship Manager so Wilder must be racist for not playing them!

If Wilder is playing RND I'm pretty sure if any of the current squad were showing any kind of form in training, they'd be getting a run out!

Louis Marsh scores loads for the 21's and has looked out of his depth every time he's played in the first team.
He's started well on loan at Chez in LEAGUE 2. That is the level of the majority of these academy lads. If you look around L1/L2/NL there's a decent amount of ex-blades academy in those teams (which is excellent to have so many doing well and having careers in the game).

My main confusion is why Ukaki hasn't either moved on or hasn't been given a loan considering his age (22 next month) but to think he's going to come and be the messiah having scored every now and again for our academy is just dreaming.

Meanwhile we're playing two players out of position on the wings who also look out of their depth.
 
And somewhere in the middle is the accurate story. Both points can be somewhat true at the same time. Wilder can be slow to bring young players through and some of what we bought will never be good enough.

There is one point being made repeatedly is that Wilder and the coaches see these guys everyday in training so they are obviously not good enough if not picked.
I think saturday's match demonstrated that Wilder and co have got a f&@#all of a clue about in match tactics and changes and evidence from his purchases hasn't done anything to reassure us he can see a player objectively.

Slimane and Traore were bought going into the Premier League. They were always going to struggle at that level. Slimane has shown he can cut it in this division in a role that works for him.

Traore, was too young and too inexperienced. He had pace, a decent touch but was too easily crowded out.

What brings on the development of players is opportunity. Leaving out the AI lads, Zatterstrom, Baptiste, Curtis Marsh all have potential. They will not be the finished article but if given a chance in the team, you will see them grow into their roles. Wilder and co need to trust them and support them.

Interesting you mentioned Slimane he's probably the one overseas player who didn't make it here that's still at a equal level to us. Panagiotis Retsos too although I think he left before JoC was injured so our defence was harder to break into with bash, Egan and JoC solidly first choice.

I was looking up how benie was going in the US. They don't rate him whatsoever...

Traoré was the least “English‑type” player you could imagine. He wasn’t blisteringly quick, he wasn’t particularly skilful, and he wasn’t strong. I watched a clip earlier where Haaland was talking about Semenyo being the ultimate English footballer because he does have all those traits; pace, power, directness. Traoré was basically the complete opposite....some said they thought he was quick, I never noticed that.

The one who let himself down who had all those attributes was Mousset

He really was. Useless at shot stopping, dived late, zero presence in the box. People got hoodwinked by him as he made basic saves look like worldies given how poor his positioning and reflexes were, and then he'd do some celebration after making said basic save...as roy keane says...its yer job 🤣

Been saying I would prefer him to the triallist we eventually rejected
and to left wingers playing on the right and producing nothing
especially against any well organized team

Only problem is Wilder/Club had him playing on the left in the U-21's
although of course he scored the goal from a corner from the RIGHT of the goal outside the box
ie the sort of position a right winger is familiar with being in.

As someone has said as I did last round
Cup at Fleetwood would be ideal place to try him
but not out of position as Marsh is always played
(Not seen his two goals for Chessy yet
The place David Brookes was being bombed out to by Wilder until he was POTT for England U-21 in Toulouse)

Suspect Wilder will get him out to some place where the window is still open rather than consider him
Age before everything!

Don't agree we have no attacking options, despite two injuries
Just Wilder does not utilize them - he nullifies them

WILDER IS THE PROBLEM
 
I've seen him play and not been particularly impressed. But when the wingers to finish the game the other day were Arblaster and Shackleton, I'm just not having not using this kid 🤣

He could be worse than John Cofie for all I care, if he's got some pace which he has and can occupy a defender to open up space then he's a credible option.
