Evans was poor tonight, I think his race is run at the Lane and it won’t happem for him here, shame for the lad after everything he has been through but I don’t think he is the same player and it was a very half arsed effort from Carruthers.

Got to admit it was the first time tonight I’ve seen the Under 23s. I liked the look of Tyler Smith, Norrington-Davies and apart from one woeful backpass, I thought Sam Graham looks a prospect.

Echo comments regarding Carruthers, looks completely devoid of any confidence/form - ball retention was really poor, as it has been in recent first team appearances. Ched showed glimpses in patches and got in decent positions without being played through. Doesn’t look 100% fit though, suppose it’s to be expected with 4 months out with injury. Pretty sure there’s a player there that can and will do a job at some point. Brooks looked like he’d never been away.

As for U23’s, Smith, Slater and the LWB impressed. Beaten by unfortunately better side on the night.

Stephen Mallon is the Brooks lookalike/playalike and looks a good player.

Carruthers pushed himself even further down the pecking order, giving away the first goal (although the defence were AWOL).

Evans is lacking the agility and sharpness that he used to have and I don't think he'll get it back sadly.

Brooks seemed like his usual self. He'll just have to keep building his stamina back up.

Semple's physique has improved since his injury.

Graham had a poor game, cost us the second goal and was lucky not to cost us another with the first half backpass.

Their number 7 Jack Stobbs looks a good player, a traditional right winger with a good balance of athleticism and technical ability.
