Went to the U21 game against Leeds at Elland Road tonight. We equalised late on after Jake Wright smashed his shot against the post and it came back to hit their keeper and went in.

It was quite an enjoyable game, we kept good possession but didn’t create many chances.

Our side was more experienced with Flynn, Miller and Williams starting. I think Leeds were genuinely an U21 side as I didn’t know any of their names.

The headlines are:
- Miller had an hour and to me looked pretty sharp in his movement and touches. We’ve missed him but having now seen him, I don’t think it will be long before he’s back on the bench
- Flynn did well, beat a few people and closed down well (it is U21 football after all and even Williams looks reasonably comfortable at this level)
- I really like the look of Julian Banton. It’s the first time I’ve seen him. A proper footballer, centre back, reads the game well, tackles, good distribution, decent in the air although I don’t think he’s 6 foot
- George Willis couldn’t do anything with the goal, made a couple of decent saves and his handling is excellent
- Ioan Evans looks pretty good. I know he’s the U18s captain but could be still only 17. I think he’ll have a future in the game
- Some neat touches from Smith, Bunn fought hard in midfield. It’s the first time I’ve seen Dimaio and he looks a neat player as well. Johns played well in the second half.
- I don’t know much about Jake Wright who came on but he took his goal really well

Didn’t see anyone else from the club except the U21 staff led by Morgs.

James Beattie was watching – surely not the third coming ? Perhaps he’s looking for loanees.

Quite enjoyed it, unlike first team football
