What a player. I used to have Len Badger's number 2 on my shirt as a youngster, but so many of that side around 1970 were great players. Woody was one of the best. Shot like an exorcet, brilliant delivery from corners and all round great wing play.

Did he have to nip to the Kop bogs while you were there by any chance?

Woody scored several goals direct from corners I remember, takes some skill to do that and we don't see it very often these days.

Didn't he also have a trick where he'd take a corner and knock it to the edge of the box and Currie would volley it in. Might have been the other way around but looked amazing when it worked.

Seem to remember he was also a master of hanging around by the touch line on the half way line while the opposition had a corner. If we won the ball it would be one hoof and he was on his way one on one with the keeper and he scored a few like this. Classic counter attacking.

He was a much respected and excellent player and I was sad to hear of his passing, he gave much joy, RIP.

Scored direct from a corner at least 4 times. Woody corner, TC volley was against Millwall in March 1970. TC corner/free kick, Woody volley happened three times in 1973/74 season

Thankfully I was lucky enough to see Woody in 1977-78 think it was his last season at the lane . Class act and from what I've been told off my brother and you lads who saw early seventies team very unlucky not to have got an England cap.
