I’d agree that there’s not a definite correlation between Gus getting injured and us suddenly winning. However I do think we need to develop a way of playing which isn’t just reliant on Gus pulling something out the bag.
It’s a whole team mentality thing. To be honest, I can’t remember us playing especially well as a whole team, not reliant on one or two players, for an extended period of time since Wilder’s first spell. Norwood was vital as part of that but it felt like he brought the best out of everyone around him. Every good side we’ve had since has been overly reliant on either MGW, Ndiaye or Hamer.
Here’s hoping a Hamer absence gets us playing in a way which brings the best out of everyone, and Hamer can slot seamlessly into it and bring his attacking flair in a way which doesn’t knock everyone back down (whether his fault or not).
