Two divisions gap

They're too lucky
Yesterday the penalty was they're only shot on target

Saw that on Channel 5 goals, was never a penalty, Pigs were lucky, and Barnsley had a 100% clear cut penalty against them that the ref never gave!, Pigs should have lost that 1-0. Oh, and McBurnie's goal, dribbling around 5 or 6 pig players before scoring, lovely stuff.

Do we dare to dream next season there could be a two division gap ourselves and the truffle hunters. Our piggy neighbors making a determined dash for one of those relegation spots and the other teams seeming to finding a bit of form. As for our own quest for the premiership I think we’re only going to get better players returning from injury and Wilders reversion to back to basics tactics. Exciting times.
i'm daring.. like crazy... there's always one 'too big to go down' merchant that drops into the relegation zone on the last day
what was it?? 'blades up .. owls relegated' :D

No one’s used the magic word yet. The pigs have this season invented the misfortune of injuries, don’t you know.

“Unprecedented”

Their accounts are out in about a fortnight, that should be a laugh. Unprecedented wage bill and losses. Maybe FFP will come knocking. They can deduct points now. Get ‘em sent down.

Of course, didn't we get it shoved down out throats we were moving up to La Liga.
My Wendy mates condescending, “you’ve done well, but its a different world up here” attitude always seemed a bit odd because from the outside looking in, last seasons Championship was more like the SPL or that year in the Premier League where all the big teams took a year out to “find themselves” and Leicester won it by accident.

There was Newcastle and Brighton, a handful of hopeless relegation fodder and about 18 others plodding on, making up the numbers. Clearly many of the plodders (Derby,Wolves, Villa, Fulham and the rest) have got their shit together and the pigs (and Reading) have both failed miserably to adapt/build/grow and have slumped as such.

To right people may say fleck went ove to easily but for fook sake I’ve just seen the piggy Jao to a triple toe loop on TV it happened minutes after he was brushed outside the penalty area. cheating piggy cunt

They will be fine due to the amount of teams below them who are equally as shit. They'll probably only need about 5 more wins or , as is more likely, 15 more draws.

They won’t win another 5 this season. They’ve only won 7 in 31 so can’t see them getting 5 in 15. Although like you say, they’ll probably survive due to the teams below them being so poor.

Mind the gap.

I can’t see Wednesday going down as much as I would love to see it. There are three or four awful teams who won’t pick up enough points to overhaul them.

The thing is whilst they are only keeping it solid and getting a point on the road (whilst getting beaten at Hog Station as they have to open up to teams to attack) they will slip quietly closer and closer to the relegation trap door.

Draws will kill you in the end if you don't win the odd few as well.

I'm hoping it will be like the season when we went down to the fourth in May 81. We were always safe and never in the relegation places....right up to 5 mins from the end when Walsall scored their penalty and we then added our own touch of drama by missing our last min penalty. Who's up for gutless Rhodes missing a last minute penalty to send em down....a man can dream.

Their form does seem very similar to how we were performing in the second half of that 1980-1 season and they are probably in a fairly similar league position to where we were at this stage of the season.

Like them, we accumulated points early on in the season and then got worse and worse. However, the drop off wasn't dramatic enough to send us nose diving towards the bottom of the table. We didn't go on extended losing sequences. We kept picking up points with draws here and there, plus the odd win. However, the teams below us were gradually gaining on us bit by bit and we slowly drifted down the table.

They have won once in something like 14 or 15 matches, but they've drawn about 7 or 8. Enough to keep the points ticking over and ensure they don't go into a full nose dive.

In that 1980-1 season we won only 3 of our last 21 matches, but we drew 7, giving us the equivalent of 16 points. A similar sort of return to what they are doing currently. And enough to ensure that we were always just out of the relegation scrap until the very end of the season.

It's a long way to go, but if their form continues as it is now, they will be cutting it very fine.

They are absolutely brilliant at drawing though. Only need a few wins and another run of those legendary 0-0 draws and they will be fine.

Been looking at league tables from earlier in the season.

After 16 games we were in second place and were 21 points clear of the bottom three. 15 matches later we have dropped to eighth, but are still 21 points clear of the bottom three. So, although our form has been poor over those 15 matches, it has been no poorer than those clubs currently in the relegation zone.

After 16 games, Wednesday were in eleventh place and were11 points clear of the bottom three. 15 matches later they have also dropped 6 places to seventeenth and the gap to the bottom three is now only 6 points.

They have been performing worse than the clubs below them. There are 15 matches to go and if things carry on at the same rate it will be squeaky rear end time come the last day of the season.

Didn't their 0-0 win at Bramall Lane start the resurgence and a place in the top two? Are you sure your claims are correct?

The interesting thing about Wendy's position is that they have a pretty tricky run in:

Home
Derby
Villa
Ipswich
Bolton
Preston
Fulham
Reading
Norwich

Away
Millwall
Bristol City
Leeds
Sunderland
QPR
Hull
Wolves

Ok, there are no easy games but that lot to me looks difficult

I’d crease if that lot went down. Especially as Chansiri would probably put the ticket prices up even further to cover the cost of relegation.

Sorry, I failed to take account of the fact that their 0-0 win at Bramall Lane was an away 0-0 win and so is ordinarily worth 6 points, but as it was at the home of their biggest rivals it entitles them to 12 points which pretty much makes them safe.

It looks like a grim future for them FFP around their necks, with an abundance of poor players on ridiculous wages with a price tag that other teams won't touch.

I like the dream , the bit I can’t believe is that Rhodes would have the bottle to take a penalty

Has there ever been a two division gap between the clubs whichever way round?

Yes. In 1981-2 we were in the fourth division. They were in the second.

In 1975-6 we were about to have our worst ever season (up to that point), but at least it was in the first division. They were in the third.

And I think in 1988-9 they were in the first division, whilst we were in the third.

I forgot about us being in the 4th momentarily, thank heavens it only lasted 1 season!

At least it didn't take us long to catch them up with the back-to-back promotions.

Don't be daft lad, easy on the relish.

I think we'll be both be in the same division, we'll be above them for at least 90 mins of the season. However all we will hear this summer is how they will finish above us, they'll smash us twice and we won't stand a chance IF they have a full strength squad. No one else has injuries or suspensions just them, so no one else is allowed to use it as an excuse.

Dear fellow Bladesmen,

Whilst both clubs are in the second tier never fear that the Pigs will finish above us. They won't. They have not done so since the 1950's. Since 1970-71 season we have been in the second tier with them 9 seasons including this one and they have never finished above us.

The nearest they got to it is seven places behind in seasons 2000-1, 2001-2 and 2007-8. We are so far ahead of them normally they might as well be on a different planet (well they are, planet Grunt.)

In the top league Snort power wins as it tends to in the third tier also, but in this league forget it. Blades reign supreme.

Home
Derby LOSS
Villa. LOSS
Ipswich WIN
Bolton. DRAW
Preston LOSS
Fulham LOSS
Reading WIN
Norwich DRAW

Away
Millwall DRAW
Bristol City. LOSS
Leeds. DRAW
Sunderland WIN
QPR LOSS
Hull. WIN

Those are my predictions.. 16points. Takes them onto 50 points.. should be just about enough this season but touch and go.

Looks generous to me. Millwall looked fantastic against Cardiff the other day. Incisive, fast, fit. Three words that can't be attributed to them.

Leeds will have all their players back (unless some more get suspended) and Heckingbottom will have probably got them going a bit.

Think it'll go down to the wire.

Brum look good, they'll go above them in the next few, Barnsley being dumped for Leeds might spur them on.
