We've had some good positional battles this season with scunny/Bolton/Fleetwood, but I've always looked back on the Southend victory away the turning point of our season.

What's yours?

Many contenders, for me win at the Ricoh stands out (even though we were already flying) just because of the shit that was going on around the game. Stitched up by Sky and the poor little Cov fans and their whistles, we came out laughing.

Punxustauney Phil says half-time v Oxford at home...

Isn't this deja vu? Could swear we've had this one before...

seanbeenstattoo pointed out on the 10th how many points thread we're repeating ourselves.

This time of year for the past 5 seasons we've had loads of things to discuss like sacking the manager, keeping the manager, rape trials, dodgy directors, hate and trolling on media, another season wasted, overpaid lazy players, journeymen, etc etc.

Be grateful all our ducks are in a row for the first time in as long as I can recall, even BM posters are acting quite respectfully and trolls like Len, Faulkes et al have disappeared up their own arses.

So if someone repeats themselves it's not the worst thing that has happened given our past 6 years record. Just give em a bit of crack and smile

Not so much a single result but the first unbeaten run we went on really was a turning point

Oxford at home. And if I was to be even more precise the goal from the forgotten man James Wilson

Southend at home, I think a few tea cups got pulverised that day.

Wilder chaging the formation to one that suits our players most and not being stubborn in his ways like the previous twats. Maybe not a normal turning point but something I thought that was worth mentioning.

There's been 4 big moments for me.

1: Port vale home was an emotional moment.
We were simply brilliant for the full 90 minutes, scored 4, had 4 disallowed and missed loads of chances. Coming out of the ground it hit me that maybe this team is special.
I knew from that moment we had an excellent and realistic chance of auto promotion.

2: Bury ar home
When they went down to 9 men they put every single player in their penalty area defending for their lives. We had so many shots blocked or cleared off the line
We totally battered them but I thought "typical United...very unlucky and we have to settle for a draw"
Then EEL scores in the last minute. Coming out of the ground I thought maybe Wilder has finally managed to get rid of the "unlucky United" tag.

3: Away at Southend
Their manager Phil Brown was bigging up his team with them being the most in form team in the division.
It was a really tough test against a very attacking confident Southend. The match was very open with fire against fire. But the simple truth was we were too good, even the Southend fans admitted we were the best team they'd seen at their ground in years. It made me realise that no team could play an open attacking game and hope to match us. We are simply the best.

4: Home to Bolton
We played 2 massive pressure 6 pointers, should have thrashed Scunthorpe but were very unlucky to only draw. We seem to bottle big matches at Bramall Lane and with us only drawing to Scunny the Bolton game was virtually a "must win" game and the most pressurised game of the season. First half was pretty even but 2nd half we stepped up a few gears and ran out comfortable and deserved winners in the end.

there's a few in mind
Oxford at home (especially when their fans started giving wilder stick when they scored)
Fleetwood away last minute equaliser to move us up to 4th could see then that this united team would not give up
Coventry away all the trouble that went on in the match and we still won
Wimbledon at home smashing them 4-0 after we had picked up 1 point out of 9 in last 3 games
Bolton at home beating them meant no one could stop us on our way to the title

How stupid of me for posting a "turning point" post without looking and reading the "how many points" post!!!!

That's all well and good B56, but some of us don't have the patience to put up with stuff being repeated.
It does my head in to have stuff repeated. I just don't have the patience and it does my head in.

The 3-3 at Bradford was special, 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2, 3-2 and then 3-3, showed great character and fighting spirit to keep going in a tense tight hard fought game

First of all - dumping Adkins........ then handing the job to Chris Wilder........ then CW consulting TC, Len Badger & Ted Hemsley to ask what the f**k was going on....... then the clearout with Hammond the Pretender heading the list of no-hopers....... and finally the end of the settling-in period with the realisation that without Coutts we were going nowhere - a very firm line drawn in the sand. Then the Oxford game - Five games in - our season starts here guys!

The days either side of the Oxford game. The players he then brought in and the change to 3-5-2.

I remember CW being interviewed - he looked and sounded crestfallen.

Think CW and AK took a long had look at a number of things - the rest is history.

Was it luck? Was it judgement? Whatever it was, it worked.

Well done fellas.

The main reason for all these repeating threads is probably that none of us can actually believe that we could finally be on the verge of getting out of this bloody league and excited by the chance that not only getting promoted but we could actually go up as champions! So it's no wonder some of us are getting a little 'giddy'! ;)

Port Vale at home was the turning point for me.

Vale were flying at the time, but we scored 4, had 4 disallowed and played with a style and passion that I'd not seen for years in a league game.

I thought we might be just having a one-off good day at the office and things had just come together, but we went on a great run from then on and have continued being a joy to watch in the vast majority of games ever since.
