Trouble before game

I also hear there were minor skirmishes between Man U 'fans' and Parish wardens in the Man United heartlands of Weighbridge, Budleigh Salterton and Goring on Thames.

Reports say the trouble flared after disputes arose over the volume and view of the TV, which county Manchester was actually in and who was the hardest core fan....

Police helicopter brought in ffs was it a gun ship for a few minor skirmishes? 9,000 well behaved fans giving great support and a few who were so violent they posed for locals taking footage on their phones get the limelight. Not condoning any violence by either side but our only press from the media is bad press!

The trouble was at a boozer called the shack or something very similar. Some 40 to 50 Man Utd fans came down to it not knowing how many Blades were inside, they soon got booted straight back up the road:D

They should have took the helicopter up on the Snake ,look like something was occurring on the top last night.

Indeed - it was the "Mountain rescue lot" - couldn't tell if they were packing up or were getting ready to go on the moors.

I was in Goring on Thursday - I didn't see anything unusual though.

I just had a quick walk down Ferry Lane, past Bomber Harris's old house, along the towpath, round the lock and then off again.

Someone let off a smoke bomb in our concourse at half time, prompting our fans to go crazy a la Wembley v Hull. No arrests as far as I could see, the cops kept a low profile.

Oh and btw everyone was smoking in the bogs as usual. And no one confiscated my e-cig.

Two pubs we were in were shut down, near Deansgate I think for 'boisterous', behaviour shall we say. A smoke bomb was let off in one. Mulligans and Sawyers Arms I think. Not a very bright thing to do, of course resulting in all being booted out. I saw no 'trouble' as such.

I'm led to believe that George Michael lives down by the river somewhere near the lock. Did you see him, his
Range Rover or indeed are you him?

Cheeky - do I post like a player of the pink oboe?

I'm not sure where he lives, I haven't been in contact with the area for a while, tell you what, I'll find out and post it on here. There's plenty of loaded people and rock stars around there for sure. I know where Pete de Freitas used to live because I went out with his sister and you used to see George Harrison driving around Henley in a purple Rolls Royce back in the day, I've gone a bit off topic haven't I? ;)

Oh and well done to the Blades who were smoking weed on the single-decker Manchester bus on the way back to the centre. The driver could have easily just flagged down one of the many cops and delayed our journey home. Luckily he just ignored it and carried on driving.

I was in the Sawyers Arms when they let it off. Up until that happened the atmosphere in there was unbelievable, there were people on tables and chairs waving flags about, chucking pints all over, singing all the old songs as well as the newer ones, so boisterous could be one word to describe it :D

Yup Wizardry, got a few photos and phone video, you missed out swinging from the chandeliers! o_O

Not big, not clever, but no one hurt and wow was that an atmosphere! :)

Forgot about the chandeliers bit. There was also somebody who went flying off a stool from one of them, needless to say he jumped straight back up singing his heart out again, it was comedy gold.

I also have a video from somewhere, does anyone know if you can post it on here?

I was just walking towards the Sawyers Arms and saw my mates lad outside, so I went over to chat, you could hear the noise from a distance away, just as I got there, he said, "no chance of getting served Phil, it's packed inside", next minute, smoke came pouring out of the door and a red flare suddenly appeared on the window ledge inside. Silly thing to do. After a pub crawl that night (stayed over for the night), we ended up inside the Sawyers and got chatting to the woman who ran it, she said we were the worst fans they have had in years, very rarely trouble like we caused, usually just noisy. She said one lad was literally swinging on the chandelier! Anyway, we chatted about beer, she was very knowledgeable on real ale.

We avoided the pubs that were too full in the afternoon, went in The Rising Sun, just off Deansgate, full of Man Utd fans when we got there, decent beers. Then went into the Deansgate, big boozer, lots of Blades in but no trouble, great pint of Thwaites Wainwright. Had a chat to a Blade who had booked himself on Karaoke, later on that night, in the Nags Head. We went in, a bit like walking onto the set of "Shameless"!, Didn't see the Blade, but a great pint of Hydes Bitter.

Sounds like I just missed you Wiz, was outside when the smoke bomb went off

It was eventful to say the least. I think the smoke bomb was from a lad that had just come up from Mulligans, it went fucking mental, mate.
