Transfer targets.

Both would be cracking signings if possible. Hogan I can see happening with the dire situation villa are in.

Your not going to get all the targets, some you will miss out , and the Belgium lad was probably one of them, especially as other clubs were interested.

Who was the lad from Belgium just out of interest? Hogan's fitness is often a concern isn't it!?

I'd love Hogan. If he gets some luck with injuries I think he could be brilloant for us. He's got 3 year left on his contract though and you can guarantee his wages will be huge.
Egan would be a fantastic signing too, he might not be on colossal wages like Hogan but with how highly rated he is we won't get him for less than 2million.

Villa need to offload so I could see us getting Hogan if we can stump up his wages. Brentford, I imagine will be less keen on flogging Egan to a team with similar promotion prospects to them. Fingers crossed though.

Egan's a predictable one.

Hogan didn't seem viable but given the talk of our budget, maybe it's a possibility.

Hogan loan or permanent?

And are we in for any wide players?

Villa fans can’t wait to get rid. Talking of taking a massive hit in their investment. I reckon £3m would get him.

Just been on the Villa board to see what they say and saw this:

Post: "Due to FFP, I thought we couldn’t sell the likes of Hogan unless we recouped a significant amount of what we paid."

Reply: "Yep, that’s essentially right I think. Can’t remember the figures exactly, but I think less than around £6m would be damaging as we record a loss on his asset value (even taking account of wages saved)"

Anyone throw any light on that?

Villa may have to go down the Leeds route, sell players but still pay a percentage of their wages to match what they were on with them. Think they were paying Robbie Fowler for 2 or 3 years after he left them.

Transfer fees are written off over the length of a contract. In this case, Hogan joined Villa in Jan 2017 on a contract to Jun 2021.
Assuming a £11.25m transfer fee, we're 18 months through that 4.5 year contract which depreciates at £2.5m per year. His book value would therefore be £7.5m and anything they took less than that would need to be written off as a P&L loss on disposal.

However, Villa's problems are cash related so arguably a £4m cash injection could be worth taking the £3.5m paper loss.

I don’t know

Exactly what they’ll do next season. No one will touch their players on their current wages.

Might all be media bollocks but thought this little section of a report on Birmingham live was very interesting....

Mirror Sport
understands Mile Jedinak still has one-year left on his £50,000-a-week deal after joining from Premier League Crystal Palace.

Midfielder Henri Lansbury is on £40,000-a-week and has three years left. Striker Ross McCormack earns £40,000-a-week and has two years left.

Ivory Coast international Jonathan Kodjia is on £35,000-a-week with two years left. James Chester is on £30,000-a-week and has two years left.

While even rookie full-back James Bree, 20, signed in January 2017 from Barnsley, is on £23,000-a-week, with three years left.

Villa reportedly owe up to £11m in fees for transfer signings.

A report in the Times states that the club still have outstanding payments to make for players like Ross McCormack, James Chester and Scott Hogan.

As the extent of Villa's financial problems deepens, the Times states that that under the football creditors' rule, these clubs are entitled to be paid before HM Revenue and Customs, who Villa have to pay an outstanding tax bill.

Money is reportedly still owed to Fulham (£6m), West Brom (£2m) and Fulham (£3m) respectively.
