If only they actually had genuine talent, eh? Northampton and Cambridge respectively have given their verdicts on De Juve and Tel. They wont make it at League One or higher. Same goes for Little Louis. Dimaio will drift into non-league, as will McFadz. Calvert-Lewin will probably have the best career of the lot of them.

Higdon's contract must have either been cancelled altogether, or paid off on a lowered agreement. To pay it off completely with only a few hours till the window shuts would be stupid at best. There was a time for that - we're well past it now.

No it makes sound business sense if we have a bona fide opportunity with a chance of it coming off. We hang about to see if we get a fee for him and the commensurate reduction in wages and if we don't then release him. I'm encouraged that this means we might see a little bit of movement.

Who says we have paid him in full? It will generally be a portion of what they would have earned enabling them to find alternative employment with the cushion of our payment and we save a small fortune on a player who would have rotted away in the background with absolutely no hope of playing in the first team again. Makes perfect sense for the club and player

That's exactly what will have happened but I'll guarantee some prick will start saying we paid him off in full, it will be repeated by other pricks and then the board will erupt again when he signs for Pompey or Aberdonian Fucking Thistle.

But if you're looking to get a capital receipt it makes sense. And theoretically we could have released Higdon at any time if it was precluding an incoming signing. There's also the player who may well have wanted to maintain his contract in order to negotiate himself a stronger contract at a new club - he has far less leverage when he is released and suspect he's been on the deal of his life.

It all seems logical to me.

They've left a light on a timer to fool passes by we are working hard on a deal. If we are signing a CB you can bet the deals done and it will be left to the last minute to announce for dramatic effect.
