As some others are quick to point out when posts are put in the wrong part of this forum, why not re-locate 'Rumour Mill' to 'Other Football and Sport' as it has nothing to do with United?

Loving the positive posts, but come on now, this is Sheffield United we are talking about. An average transfer window see's our two best players leave for a local rival, a "good" one day see's just the best player going to a divisional rival.

Peter Whittingham the latest to be linked via Twitter.

Wont be the last daft rumour of the day either...
Well, the way he finished off that free kick on Saturday ..............

He certainly has some talent that requires exorcising ....

Hang on, before we are all keen to see Flynn leave is he now the only player left who can play right back if Brayford gets injured

The dilemma Adkins and the club are in , is that we have a core of players who would rather be sat on there arses collecting there wages , than playing football

I don't think that is the case, and it does the players no good as professionals. Seriously.

I think they all want to play and they want to win. They are as pissed off about the club being where it is and are caught in the unsavoury crossfire of a board without direction of motion and a fanbase who are at the end of their tether with regard patience. I also believe a lot of the playing staff are not of the required standard to get us into the playoffs and do anything positive. I don't think they are just mugging the club and its fans off. We have alarge playing staff which are th residue of seasons of poor strategy and underinvestment. If the staff were ten players light but 30% better, we'd be in the top two spots by now. I think successive managers have gone to McCabe et al with a costly requirements lista nd likely targets, been told to fuck off and had to settle for filling the ranks with poor alternatives to make it look like they are doing something. and we are left with those players after the best ones are farmed out to stave off what I could believe is a worsening executive and commercial situation behind the scenes.

Anyone want to tell me what benefit at all installing the Desso pitch has had to the club?

Could that money have best been redirected into buying two decent centre halfs?

I think the current situation is more straightforward than that, Pommps! Clough was given a pot of money to invest in new players. Whether he couldn't get the quality he wanted or he decided to go for quantity rather than quality (or his scouting network wasn't up to finding what was needed), we have finished up with a bloated squad full of average or below average players for this division. Personally, I think a football presence on the board would have alleviated much of what has gone wrong in the last 4-5 seasons, offered direction, focus and policy and wouldn't have allowed the signing of so many average players. You're right, they want to play and win but don't have the quality to succeed, bar a few exceptions.

Having said that, two or three of the right position and calibre coming in, could still see them in the play-offs.

The fax machine actually prevented us from signing on loan, the distinctively average John Fleck and the nonentity Kyle Hutton. It did a decent job, really.

Jimmy White's Deadline Day Army.....

He is also not short of self-belief or an ego
Which can be a good thing, but he did annoy me by gesturing at the Blades fans when he scored at the Lane earlier this season. Guess I wouldn't complain if he scored for us though!

I didn't think it would take long for you to come on board with this :D

That's sill CB,
A fax machine in defense !!!
the way I heard it the fax machine didn't make the team, but is on the bench. :)

"Sheffield United sign crocked Fax Machine - expected to partner David Edgar in defence"

Quicker than Collins and better at running with the ball.

Coffee machine in ticket office is close to agreeing terms with a view to replacing Edgar.
