We need 2 CFs through the door. One quick, one big. Clarke and Sharp are neither.

'Quick and big' eh?

Somewhat tediously, my first thought would have been 'ones who could score'.

Hanson is 'big', but you have spent the last 8 months slagging him.

But the (apparent) continued confidence in the Sharp / Clarke combo as our first choice offensive line worries me. Greatly.

I'll stick with Billy if that's all right with you.

Not normally one to panic.

Lavery is quick and Hanson is big?

Seriously, aren't half the PL teams and pretty much all the Championships sides looking for a striker with pace and can score goals...

Billy can score. So can Leon. As I see it, they fight it out for one place. I don't see them as a pair. Never have done, never likely to.

Billy, as it stands, with the greater claim for this shirt.

Which leaves room for a partner.

We can go one of two ways here.

Player A with pace, obvious advantages this gives the side. Stretching behind, running at defenders etc etc. Gives us something different. Widely accepted that we lack pace.

Or

Player B. A vastly superior upgrade on Hanson. Must have aerial ability. Knock downs. Flick ons. . Hold up play. Etc etc. A typical Blades style target man.

We NEED both. IMHO. Both must be capable of chipping in with circa 10 goals per season, but this by itself is not the main criteria.

Acting as a foil, an assister, a nuisance factor equally important.

UTB

PS. Spent 8 months on Hansons case cos , for 8 months, he has been Concord Park standard.

And neither are up to the level required.

Upgrades urgently needed.

See prior post above (#34).

Oy, I've seen some decent strikers on Concord Park. That was usually because I was having a shit game in goal though :(

It's looking like we're struggling a bit, probably with both ins and outs. It's clearly not going to plan but a lot of teams will be in the same boat.

Nothing we can do but wait and see.
Who's plan ? Your's or Wilder and Knill's. Keep the faith , UTB

The rumours ive heard is that 2 deals have already been provisionally agreed
BUT the selling club wont let the deal go through until they bring in a replacement.

That's the problem, deals are being made dependent on other deals going through.
Hence when a few go through this afternoon it should start a domino effect.

Wilder is still optimistic we'll get our targets but it's so stupid that there's this mad rush with hours to spare.

Why do clubs never learn?

It's the same every year - much Less chance you'll make a bad signing if you think about it and get your bids in early. Rather than flinging bids about at the last minute.

Be quicker to go through all your posts surely. 1 in 2 chance of hitting a Hanson comment. The other obviously being about your love for Couttsy :)
Hanson on his bike. Thanks for the one goal James !

Coutts, best midfield player of his type O/S the PL.

Tell me I've been wrong all along ?:(

Agree, it's like buying a house and being PART OF CHAIN.
For example of anyone bids for Hanson today I suspect we'd agree in principle BUT on the condition that we first bring in a replacement before letting him go.

Also it's in the players and agents interest to delay everything until the final day because by then some clubs will be so desperate that they'll pay over the odds and pay higher salaries.

The transfer window seems to create more hassle than initially intended.

All these ins and outs seems like to much hokey cokey to me

Asked a question earlier about loan signings after window closing, No.
so here's another, what about overseas transfers/loans. Does that end as well.

Yes. Although some have later deadlines e.g. Extra day in Spain.

Only option would be non contracted players. And you would have to ask yourself why non contracted ???

We better get this right or Xmas can't come soon enough. And I never thought I would ever say that (Humbug) !!!

Sat in Hen and Chickens with Kev, Scott, Simon, Tufty, Knilly and Cap'n Blade. Everything on hold as the fax machine is broken and one of the customers has been sent out to get one for later. Ive just had a look and he's just climbing into the second floor window of a solicitors office on Bank Street. Tufty isnt 'appeh, they've no Peroni and when Scott told him he said get anything so he's sat with a bottle of Mackeson and some snuff. Simon is lathered and Cap'n Blade is helping Kev on Football Chairman 2017 but he can't get on line because the Princes credit card has been declined.

Bids are in for Jota, Cole, Leonard, Lenihan in fact everyone mentioned in Rumour mill on here.

Fleck has been spotted talking to a twitching cockney with a dog and Coutts is sat with Brayford and Simon Clough all wearing Burton track suits.

The baying mob from S24SU will be met on Cherry Street at 11.05pm by the still loyal McCabe Militia backed by the 1st Sheffield Camel Artillery in a fight to the death which will only end when Jim White announces one he'd missed, Brooks to Everton for £750000, no sell on.

Will update soon, after Knill finally gets a round in.

Tell yer wot, not much happening......

Confirmed.....

Update

Got fax machine but need power lead and A4 paper.

Heading back to Lane, called in Fagins. Tufty not "appeh. No Peroni. Warm bottled Guiness and White Pudding and Soda Bread flavoured mini cheddars. Scott and Simon are arguing over which one Kev loves best.
Knill is on Strappys Twitter account to see who we're in for. Cap'n Blade outside waving to some children. Kev trying to get Prince on phone. Apparently the reception is bad because he's going through a tunnel in the desert.

Back soon

Now in Maggie Mays. No one wanted to go.
But Kev had a cunning plan. He swipes a piwer lead from one of the tills. Gary Sinclair announces over the Mike, in a somber voice, the theft of the lead whilst two fat blokes dance to I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Tufty not happy. They have Peroni but it's his round and he says there's no way he's paying four and a half quid a pint. We all have tap water except Knilly, who buys his own Cherry B .

Need to get back to the Lane but calling for one more, Tufty suggests Frog and Parrot, but apparently Simon is scared of Parrots and Scott is scared of Frogs. And otters.

Kev says we need some investors.

Decide on Forum.....

not looking very exciting is it. We need about 4 players but might be looking at one loan! Were going for it said Mccabe, I think he meant try and go with the smallest budget we have ever had in the championship!
