I wish I was a woman with my current footballing ability (average). Pretty sure I'd be top scorer in the top league.

What's stopping you? Plenty of people change gender these days. Do a Bruce Jenner.

I suspect it gets a lot of courage in the media because it's cheap as fuck and has a growing audience. I watched some of the Olympics and the World Cup because it was of a watchable standard and I like watching football. I've managed to avoid the Women's league because I gave it a go and it wasn't very good. And I'll watch Tranmere v Wrexham on BT so I'm not that picky.

I've managed to avoid it totally since and I don't do Twatter so it's not a problem for me. I do think there should be some kind of option whereby you only receive tweets on things you're interested in, I don't think the FA should be trying to ram it down people's throats. They're the last people who should be preaching about women's football when most of their representatives are blokes over sixty.

I think the idea that you're not allowed to say it's shit or you don't like it is a bit of a straw man argument. No one's ever told me I have to like it or support it and if a load of women want to play football and watch each other play it, if blokes want to watch it too, it's got nowt to do with me. Let them get on with it and I'll get on with watching the Blades.

Fair enough, can't argue with too much of that, I think we are just about in agreement but just from different angles. Your explanation is also probably a bit more diplomatic than mine. You're right though about the FA ramming it down people's throats. Coming from a bunch of misogynistic, hypocritical old farts is a bit rich.

Well I enjoy womens football, men's football, schools football, amatuer, Sunday league, pub and works football (sorry if I've missed any). Different standards and quality but football all the same. Any that want to be associated with my glorious Blades (Junior Blades, Sheff Utd Ladies etc) is ok by me!

Bit surprised they're competing in the East Midlands league and not Sheffield and Hallamshire?!?

If I recall correctly, East Midlands league isa step up from the Sheff & Hallamshire one. Going from S&H to the Derbyshire Girls & Ladies league was a sideways move, and East Midlands is up from that.



Personally love women's football. As long as you're not expecting the physicality or quality you see in the men's game then the standard of play is fine. There are some cracking players and the England WNT is improving massively. Genuine World Cup contenders, unlike the fellas.

Blah blah they'd get battered by men etc. Yeah but Serena Williams would get battered by Federer, it certainly doesn't diminish her talent.

That's not directed at anyone on here btw, just something I see a lot of on twitter etc.

Amen to that and well done SwissBlade for daring to go against convention and political correctness. I too have no interest in women's football. It sucks. The only worse sporting spectacle I can think of is women's cricket.

I doubt if there's anyone on this forum who can play cricket tot the standard of top international women's cricket

Having watched a bit of the womens league in recent years and the womens England team, I have to say ive enjoyed it more than watching the men. its more entertaining and the England womens team wouldn't lose to bloody Iceland. I have a cousin who plays footie is she is pretty decent, plus a little daughter who I would love to play when shes older. Still each to their own.

Pulled a bird once in Manchester (about 15 years ago) who played for the Blackburn Rovers female team, girls ladies whatever. Dark hair, slim, fit! Lovely unit she was. Anyway we got on with each other so well it was frightening, our likes and dislikes were practically identical, our backgrounds practically identical, our families our upbringings, EVERYTHING! It was all going swimmingly.....
Later in the evening we meet up with some of her oddball mates down the gay village, one of which (female) took an instant dislike to me and a fervent interest in my bird. A couple of grams of ketamine later and lots of poppers, and they're literally rolling around on the floor in a bar, off their faces, getting it on in a big way, much to my annoyance as I definitely wasn't invited! I went home alone and she told me the next day she wanted to be a lesbian.

That's all I can offer on womens football I'm afraid.
