Yeh they have been, don't think they've lost a game this season have they?

They are only in a tin pot league though. The accounts kept mentioning about 4 year plan to get into the WSL, now where have we heard that before?

Do wish they'd call themselves SUFC Women rather than SUFC Ladies though. But that's quibbling. They're doing fantastic this season it seems.

The best thing about the ladies team is the fact that one of the players is married to a guy I went to school with...and he's a massive W*******y fan! He keeps on posting stuff about them on facebook!

Bit surprised they're competing in the East Midlands league and not Sheffield and Hallamshire?!?

Not only are we top of the league in League One, but am I right in thinking the Under 18's & the ladies team are also top of their leagues?
Really annoys me that the SUFC Twitter and SUFC OS both report on the womens team. I can categorically say that i will never go to watch the womens team and have absolutely no interest in it. It has, other than the badge, have nothing to do with the team i support.

Perhaps they can have a dedicated website and twitter feed for them so that people interested in this team can follow them

Amen to that and well done SwissBlade for daring to go against convention and political correctness. I too have no interest in women's football. It sucks. The only worse sporting spectacle I can think of is women's cricket.

Unless they make it similar to the NFL Lingerie league of course

It's not my cup of tea as a spectacle but if it helps get more women engaged in sport I encourage it. Who knows, it might add a few hundred to our crowds as well. I read somewhere that only 10% of football crowds are female (and from personal observation I'd say it's lower than that to be honest) so it's a relatively untapped opportunity. We represent the city so why not represent both genders (or are there 3 now!)?

No problem with their right to exist and more power to them, well done to SUFC for setting it up and backing them financially, no doubt as well. But its not the team i support and as much as i wouldn't expect to see Sheffield Eagles on their if we bought them out, i don't expect to see an unrelated Sheffield United Ladies team

I would imagine that having their own twitter and instagram feeds they would also gain a better following this way. Its like when the FA push the England womens side, i had to stop following the FA for England updates as there seemed to be a huge amount of tweets about the womens side. As a result i now follow neither

Nor have I but around 50% of the population are women so I don't consider it politically correct to think they're just as entitled to play football as blokes are. What convention is Swiss daring to go against?

Didn't say women shouldn't play football but women's cricket, rugby & football is given disproportionate coverage in the media when you consider that no-one turns up to watch it in this country and the standard of play is fucking awful. The PC aspect of it is most apparent when parallel news of the women's games is shown alongside that of the men's. The convention Swiss goes against is that he dares to criticise the women's game being lumped in with the men's game when he has zero interest in it. In the age of inclusiveness I would say this is a big no-no these days.

I suspect it gets a lot of courage in the media because it's cheap as fuck and has a growing audience. I watched some of the Olympics and the World Cup because it was of a watchable standard and I like watching football. I've managed to avoid the Women's league because I gave it a go and it wasn't very good. And I'll watch Tranmere v Wrexham on BT so I'm not that picky.

I've managed to avoid it totally since and I don't do Twatter so it's not a problem for me. I do think there should be some kind of option whereby you only receive tweets on things you're interested in, I don't think the FA should be trying to ram it down people's throats. They're the last people who should be preaching about women's football when most of their representatives are blokes over sixty.

I think the idea that you're not allowed to say it's shit or you don't like it is a bit of a straw man argument. No one's ever told me I have to like it or support it and if a load of women want to play football and watch each other play it, if blokes want to watch it too, it's got nowt to do with me. Let them get on with it and I'll get on with watching the Blades.

I wish I was a woman with my current footballing ability (average). Pretty sure I'd be top scorer in the top league.
