he does have a point the opportunity is there to be top for xmas ,,,, which is nice

but I dont mind being patient and moving top in May

Sheffield United v Tranmere
Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday
Doncaster v Coventry
Cardiff v Peterborough

If all the teams in bold win next Saturday we'll be top of the league and Wednesday will be bottom.

:D

Quite. Wendy didn't move into second until we drew against Stevenage last year, nice to be there now, better come the end of April (this season)

Beating the best team (so far) in the League without McDonald will be a tall order.

We'll beat Tranmere and Coventry will beat Donny. Trust me, it's in the bag.

Didn't people say something similar in that we would be promoted with games to spare and that the last day would be a party? Don't count your chickens before they hatch springs to mind. It's the Blades way not to do anything straight forward.

Which is exactly why we'll be top at Christmas, relegated in May.

The one good thing about being top at Christmas, is that it will mean that we have enough points to avoid relegation, which is always the first thing I tick off my list of United's achievements each season :)

Didn't 'people' say Tranmere would establish a twenty point lead? Is it the Trannies way?

Likewise, if we have avoided relegation before the end of Feb then we're doing ok

It's about the only achievement I celebrate most seasons.

It's possible and would make it a good Saturday. For me Sat is a draw though.

Tranmere haven't won for 4 games, have won only 2 of their last 9 games and taken only 10 points from those 9 games. In other words, they have the form of a mid table team. They are there for the taking.

The myth that the Pigs were nowhere last season and came out of nothing to take 2nd needs dispelling http://www.statto.com/football/teams/sheffield-wednesday/2011-2012 They were 2nd this time last season and overall on 9 different occassions.

Wednesday are far from down. They do not have a bad squad and with a new managerial appointment (Jones is not up to it) and a bit of cash (which we know mandy has) spent in January then they could still climb out of that hole. Nice to see a bit of a gap opening up down there mind.

I think we'll win on Sat-di. Tranmere are stuttering and are there for the taking (as Dazzler says). It could end up being 1-1, but I have a feeling we might turn them over.

As it happens, we now have a great opportunity to get 12 points from the next 4 games as we appear to be playing 4 of the worst form teams in the division - first Tranmere, then away to Crawley (who haven't won in 7 and dropped to mid table), followed by the bottom 2 Scunthorpe and Hartlepool (1 win all season) at home.

Oh no, we're certs to lose!

Uh oh.

Deano is coming to get you.

I said Tranmere wouldn't get promoted and I'd be surprised if they finish in top 6

I said something similar. Whatever the result on Saturday, Tranmere will not finish in the top two and will not be promoted. They have done remarkably well but will falter in the second half of the season.

As many teams around us will too. Can't see many teams lasting the pace. I think come March time we'll have opened up a gap at the top

They weren't nowhere, but we were 5 points ahead with 2 games in hand, they should have been miles and miles behind...

The first thing that occurs to me about this fixture is that the fans need to treat it like the big game it is, and not sit there waiting to be tickled. I don't care if it's Tranmere or Real Madrid - it matters.

Proper support required...
