With their recent results, transfer business so far and belief in the manager to carry them over the finishing line, I truly believe that Sunderland and Burnley are a bigger threat to United than Leeds

I mean if the OP is of the opinion that Leeds have the clear best squad in the league, will walk it, and therefore Burnley and Sunderland are more direct rivals, I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that take. If the OP thinks those two clubs will surpass both us AND the dirties and get the two automatic spots then cocaine is a hell of a drug
 
If Sunderland make more good signings, as they threaten to, that might push them back into top 2 contention in my eyes (though they were never really adrift) but I'm still quite confident Leeds and Burnley will finish above them. They might be a very good bet to win the play offs though - which could easily depend more on injuries than the transfer window....
 
All4 top teams are dropping points recently. Almost anything is possible for anyone!

Automatic promotion is a lottery, but the play offs 🤷‍♂️ no thanks.
 
Leeds will lose their nerve in the last 6-10 games like they do every season. It's virtually in that club's DNA at this point.

Sunderland are vastly overperforming and running on pure momentum, once they have a couple of defeats on the trot we'll see how they respond.

Burnley have a great squad on paper but play extremely dull football and often seem to struggle against mediocre opposition.

We are also vastly overperforming and running on fumes, but players coming back from injury and a few shrewd additions this window will fix that. Our biggest worry is our habit of losing against direct promotion rivals, but half of those games are already out of the way and we have been the most consistent of the lot against everyone else.

Still very much in our own hands and when you take a step back and take off the patented Bladey Blade Catastrophe Goggles we have the best chance of finishing in the top two of any of the above.
 
As it stands, only 11 of the 24 clubs in the Championship have signed any players so far this window. If my maths is right, a total of 18 transfers (including loans) into Championship clubs have been completed so far.
 
We have a decent squad and with a few astute January signings we will also have a very good squad capable of automatic
 

Leeds Leeds are falling apart again, well let's hope so🤞

But let's not pretend that any of us think being halfway through the window with no signings is where we want to be. Couple of weeks back Wilder was pretty adamant we would have incomers by the Norwich game. Not there yet but clock is ticking but we can't do anything about it except moan !

Not sure how anyone can comment on the transfer window until it’s finished.

About 3 week before the season started it was all doom and gloom regards our transfer business,
many predicted mid table based on our squad at the time.

Then a week or 2 before the season started we started seeing all these good players joining us,
so at the last minute we raised expectations to probably play-offs based on the squad.
 
Having been at all 4 games against the rivals this season, Leeds are better than us, Sunderland are worse than us, and Burnley are similar to us. Between us and Burnley for second place......

Sunderland outplayed us in both games. They are also spending money and will have a significantly better squad than us by the end of the month.

Sunderland didn't outplayed us in either game
They haven't spent any money and they're squad isnt better than ours and I'm not sure it will be no matter who they bring in

We edged the first game, and they were hanging on for dear life the last half hour at SOL. You don't always get what you deserve though. We should/could have drawn with Burnley. Actually, I think the only other team that played better than us (apart from Leeds) was Boro.
