Facts are we are overachieving. As a club, we are in uncharted territory and if it was Villa or Norwich in our position right now I would be inclined to think they'd slip away.
If there's a Roygbiv on other club forums - they might think we are a sensitive, defensive bunch that twists anything aimed at our club into criticism.

We are extremely sensitive. We are being described as "media darlings" by rival fans to the point where they're getting pissed off at how much praise we get. Whenever I switch on the radio or TV someone is on there gushing about us.
I haven't heard Cascarino's comments so can't comment on this particular incident but last season he was one of the few pundits who knew how we played and tipped us to go up instead of Leeds.
The only person who has genuinely pissed me off this season is Garth Crooks because he thinks he's a serious pundit but can't be arsed to do any research. The likes of Durham and Nicol are comedy characters who you can't take seriously. Everyone else has been really complimentary this season. Even Danny Mills has admitted he got us completely wrong.

On the whole, he seems a great exponent of what we've achieved up to press.
Quite simply we should use reverse psychology with this one, take one game at a time and gather points - if we for one moment start to think of Man U/Spurs/Arsenal/Everton etc breathing down our necks, that could effect the players.
To be fair, Mourinho is the acid test as to where we are at present - he has mentioned United (and Wolves) as a real contender in a recent BBC interview - that's a massive compliment to us and is far far better guide/opinion than any comment from any ex player who now acts as a pundit.

The reality is that we have a brilliant recruitment and coaching set up who are getting the absolute maximum from their available resources. They will continue to achieve this level of effectiveness which, as we are seeing, has an extremely high ceiling.

Yes getting a bit silly these threads when a pundit says something we don't like. The bloke said he doesn't think we'll qualify for Champions League. We're now getting arsey about that?? I do listen to TS. Cascarino loves us and Wilder. Think he predicted 100 points first season back in the Champ when we got off to a good start but obviously that didn't quite come off. He seems to be good mates with Wilder he was up the other week for a match and apparently boozing in Wilder's office with him til 3am. And he's not a lazy pundit just turning up and spouting bollocks he seems to be a football obsessive who spends all week watching any football he can find on TV.

Before we became vogue I had my own shit list and good list of pundits.
Shit list consisting of soundbite, cliche-ridden, uninformed braindeads who often have rode the wave of a respectable career as a player.
Good list consisting of real football people who love the game, have a degree of intelligence and are sometimes bold enough to disagree with the status quo.
Good list - Murray, Carragher, Neville, Savage and Cascarino. Shit list - Durham, Souness, Crooks, Mills and Lawrenson.
It's a funny coincidence how the opinions on Wilder/Sheff Utd sway in both lists!

If we’ve been overachieving for the last 3 seasons, I’m guessing he thinks we should still be in League One (our level). But I reckon it’s the other way round, we’ve been underachieving for the last 44 years.

Agree with every thing you say here, except the last five words. Even if these teams re-muster they will still have a fight on there hands, what happens if United(The Original) kick up a gear (new players to integrate). Please don't belittle United with so many variables in place.

Cas is just lining up his pitch for Wilder being manager of the year, AGAIN.
He’s highlighting what an incredible achievement it is, so far, and it will be incredibly hard to sustain a push for the run in. We are over achieving, given the budget and the experience.

I heard Cascarino confess on Talksport a few weeks ago that he first met Wilder when he was manager at Northampton.
Said he was really impressed with his attitude and coaching methods...he decided that day he would follow his management career closely.
Cass also said they instantly got on really well and although they aren’t close he said he would definitely class Wilder as “a good friend”.
His co presenter Georgie Bingham is often winding up Cass for being too pro Wilder saying there’s too much “man love” going on or Cass must be his agent.
