It's not that simple, the transfer fees are written off over the length of the player's contract or 6 years, whichever is shorter. Stansfield, for example, signed a 7 year contract when he joined so he will only cost Birmingham £2.5m this season as far as PSR is concerned.
Like Cole palmer at chelsea

I think the clubs with the celebrity owners are going to generate significant revenue from over the pond. Additionally Birmingham is a big city so they will fill their ground next season and their total sponsorship revenue will no doubt be significantly greater than ours with Delta Airlines and Coral sponsors of the team as well as UNDEFEATED being the main shirt sponsor, see below

Garry Cook, Chief Executive Officer at Birmingham City, said: "We are delighted to extend our partnership with UNDEFEATED. For the first time in the Club's history our shirts, are being repped on the streets of LA, New York and other leading cities across the US. This is a direct result of the relationship with UNDEFEATED.

They have also just appointed a Chief Commercial Officer New Revenue Streams who spent 30 years at Meta, Yahoo and Viacom and launched Instagrams international advertising business.

They are being run as a proper global sports team and it will be interesting to see whether our American owners adopt any new practises to increase revenue.
Interesting. I do think the trick here is probably diverting some of Tom Brady’s existing commercial contracts through the club (he was already linked to Delta Airlines for instance), as a workaround for FFP.

I really struggle to believe otherwise that at this point there is any meaningful demand for Birmingham City shirts in the US (celebrity endorsed or otherwise).

True. I did say I guess they are sailing close to the wind. As I understand it you can make a £39 million loss over a three year period (with secure funding). If they made approx £15 mill loss (22/23) then £25 mill loss (23/24) then even accounting for depreciation and a net transfer spend of £30 million they would need to turn their general operating around substantially in 24/25 to comply, unless their are other exceptional profits they can muster up ala Villa (selling the womens team).
There are allowable expenses in that £39m though. We had an impairment hit in 23/24 of £10.7m which won't have affected PSR. Birmingham are probably close to the limit but they'll be playing a canny game.

You're looking at paying about £10m for a top end championship midfielder these days which I think he is and if we'd gone up it's not a big fee considering the money we'd earn. I think he could step up and play regular in the Premier League. If not we'd get about £5m back selling him anyway.
I think at £10m you’re paying double over the odds. If you’re desperate in that position (we’re currently over loaded) then maybe it’s worth it. In our position it’s not in my opinion.

Read earlier in the summer that they are nowhere near the FFP limits. Theres and Wrexhams sponsorship deals where premier league money. They have more than enough money and wriggle room to have a real go

Is 10m even bad value for someone who's excellent in the championship, in a position as central as that? Someone who has longevity too? And if they've got you to the PL, isn't that payback of the fee? Is it not worth spending on players who set your floor as top championship? Players like this retain value into the multi millions even if other championship clubs wouldn't pay 10m

There are not many players like Doyle within our reach, of that specific CM profile. And we do need one. None of the others do the same job. Let's see if we sign anyone better. I doubt it. That he's played for us before is no sort of negative either, the opposite if anything

I think £10 mill is a fair price for Doyle, if Norwood managed to step up and perform for us in the PL then Doyle could too.

That said, we've got loads of talent in that position and he doesn't necessarily seem like a Selles player. I liked him and so I'm a bit sad to see him go to Brum, but people need to calm down.

It’s the same with Wrexham, they’re essentially sponsoring Ryan Reynolds and a documentary via the club.

Since FFP was introduced clubs have been looking for a workaround and this is another one.

Might as well just scrap FFP and let clubs do what they like.

I think we will do business like we did last summer. Use what we generate. Might see some movement once Souza has gone, but generally just need some defenders and 5 good loans.

Souza nighr generate money for say Phillips and Alzate
No to that many loans. We need to start owning our bloody team again instead od borrowing one.
