Tommy Doyle or John Fleck in midfield?

Fleck when on top form but he rarely has really good games anymore,
he’s often OK just doing the bare minimum with his 6 out of 10 displays.

This season Doyle has been consistently slightly better, always has good 7 out of 10 displays.
Fleck is now down the pecking order, good option to bring on as sub though.

Fleck as is/was the case with McBurnie, needs a consistent run of games in the team and will come good.
Berge being injured has opened the door for him.

No player in the world can reach their peak when they play intermittent cameos.

If it’s a choice of the 2 then Doyle, but with no Sander it’s both for me at the moment.

Fleck needs half a season to get fit. He's not really had a good game for about 2.5 seasons. Maybe a couple of 7 out of 10s but that's it. Was a good player for us back in the day, but is an absolute passenger in games at the moment. Players just run passed him like he's not there. In possession he just plays the simple square/backwards pass. Is clearly seeing out his contract until he takes his family back north of the border and perhaps picks up a contract up there in the SPL or first division.

Doyle has been good without being great, but is young and still finding his feet, so hopefully more to come.

Right now both. Doyle in the Berge. Other than that Doyle has won the shirt.

Doyle > Fleck, but neither should be starting every game

Doyle is doing things that we’ve cried out for Fleck to do for years… such as hitting the 18 yard box, shooting on sight etc. His work rate his far superior to flecks as well….

It’s a no brainier for me. Had fleck left the club in the summer I wouldn’t have been surprised.

Yes, every now and again he comes good. But Doyle is consistent since joining us and it’s his shirt to lose.

As things stand, as many have said Doyle and Fleck, but tbh I think McAtee in the left midfield spot in flecks place may just come good and surprise people.
He certainly has the tools, if hecky can bring it out, that could potentially be a better midfield than Fleck, Duffy and Coutts.
Berge Norwood and Doyle/mcatee is a mouth watering prospect.

I noticed Fleck took the corners at WBA. Hope Doyle takes over again soon. A great set piece taker

If it's a straight choice between the two you go with Doyle, he's been decent this season when called upon. Unless your expecting to need a bit more bite in midfield.

If both at the very top of their game Fleck can be excellent, we haven't seen that for a long time I feel. Seen some decent performances at times but also alot of Jimmys.
He has though struggled with injuries these past 2 years too. After the project restart and his bout of covid he hasn't hit the heights that meant he was being linked with big money moves away. Never felt that the Arsenal link was true but did think the likes of West Ham at that time might have been casting an eye.

Doyle has got a bright future though. Truth be told be surprised to see him break into the Man City side but do feel he could become a PL player if his trajectory continues. If we get to the PL and he's played a good part worth a look to buy or loan.

Something tells me tonight Heckingbottom might make a change or two. The one I'm expecting is to see McBurnie on the bench.

With our squad at the minute and the number of games coming up I expect both th play a part in every game

Untill Berge becomes fit, obviously both.

After the World Cup, I'm leaning towards Doyle on current form, unless if Fleck regains his previous years form quickly

When Berge is back, I'd be inclined towards the opposite.
I think Fleck provides a better platform if we're going with two no.10s (Berge & Ndiaye) playing off a centre forward (McBurnie).

Doyle's tendency is to play higher up the field and he isn't as disciplined out of possession, leaving Norwood exposed through the middle of the park.
