Yes it was played BUT Annies song wasn't at Kick off (1st half at least) so the kop spontaneously broke into Annies song...

Not sure about 2nd half I was slitting my wrists thinking that we'd got Robbo back after 45 mins of craB football

Swiss, I think you have made your point about what you think about our performance without mentioning it in every thread. Funny, I had you down as a clapper. Maybe your just trying to make a point?

Not sure what you expected after 2 games, but I much prefer crab and how we are progressing to hoof and how we weren't progressing

At least with crab football it stops the opposition getting the ball ball immediately after losing control
Arsenal play crab football for much of the time but have players with the speed of Walcott to make that decisive break
I am quicker than most of the players down at the Lane and their speed of thought is not that responsive either!!!
Perhaps talking of Arsenal and the Blades in the same thread is not the done thing!

There are so many threads tho Sheffielder!

I am seen as a clapper, and mainly try to be positive but hearing so many on the Kop applauding such pointless passing, which only seemed to tire us frustrates me.

I understand why we did it, to get players confident on the ball, but not in this way. It was kids stuff.

I didn't expect anything from Speed, but we need to play at least an effective penetrative style

Patient Passing football due to lack of pace within the side, is better than trying to do something we're incapable of doing with the current crop of players.

I'd rather keep the ball than hoof it, lose it, concede a goal.

When he's got the players he needs, he'll play his style of attacking football with penetration and style.

Give him time. 2 Games in and your moaning that we aren't attacking enough.

we won the game with 1 clear shot on target. Winning 1-0 playing like that is better drawing 0-0.

ROME wasn't built in a day, and all that.

Is it a case of wanting it all ways? I'll openly admit I clapped on Saturday when we retained possesion for more than 7 or 8 passes. It's not a bad thing to keep hold of the ball, whether that's going forwards, backwards or sidewards. It means that A) The opposition are chasing around and B) by doing so they're being pulled out of position. Once we have some better movement up front and down the wings we should be able to progress with it.

Why do you think it's so easy for teams to defend the direct approach? It's because a defender rarely gets pulled out of position and can preserve a relatively steady shape whilst the ball is pumped backwards and forwards. Yes, we did spend some time going from side to side but given time we'll be able to use that to our advantage - it's not all about 'getting it in the box' at the 1st time of asking, we need to be cleverer and wait for the right opportunities. It really frustrates me when there's someone shouting for us to 'lump it into t'box' like we haven't just experienced two years of the absolute dross.

I never had Swiss down as a kop kind of guy

Pass and move to make space. kids stuff... You would absolutely hate being an Arsenal fan then? Give it a break. 2 games in and only 1 transfer in and it's like your already writing off what Speed is trying to do. I will just call you Hoof II

a nil-nil draw we would have obviously 'dominated' under Blackwell

I think the football on Saturday was entertaining, it was certainly much better than under Robson, I think when we passed the ball we were progressing up the field from it rather than tip tap across the back four just for the sake of it then resorting to the hoof anyway. I think we just need a couple of pacey wingers and abit more practice with the new style and we'll be flying up the table. As others have said Speeds only had 2 games and I for one can see plenty of green shoots of recovery from the team. I had severe doubts about Speed, I didnt think he would alter the style that we played as hes been coaching here for the last yaer and a half but he seems to be prooving me wrong.

Two pacey wingers and a midfielder to replace Montgomery
Boggy must be dire if he can't get a game with Evans and Cresswell in front of him in the pecking order!
Flying up the table?
Welcome to Planet Danson
Not sure what your'e on Ted but its powerful stuff!!!

Don't get me wrong I am trying to be patient, just giving my opinion on what I saw.

Pass and move is great but its got to go somewhere. Preston despite offering an absolutely minimal threat were obviously quick to pick up that if they kept their shape, we could play sideways, John street to Southstand and back all day as we wouldn't get in behind them.

Arsenal or even vaguely close to Arsenal it was not. England it was!

Im going for cheif clapper this season!

To be fair on Cressy I think hes been played out of possition, he certainly isnt a winger, hes far too slow. This is my 1 gripe with Speed so far, that hes been playing Cressy on the wing when Yeates seems like a much better option but Im going to give him time to try to readdress this problem, hopefully with a bit of new blood.

Boggy hasnt shown anything of any merit so far but again he was played out on the wing at Boro, a couple of friends say he showed some skill against Rovrum though

Boggy looked good in all the pre season games he played in. Yeates was the stand out player of every one of these games so it's a real mystery as to why he isn't getting a game.

My memories of Robson was of four or five passes accross the back four with no-one showing for a pass from midfield. Ball to Kilgallon. He arrows it forward consistently a foot over BT's head. Move breaks down.

Sat was better than that. There needs to be improvements for sure but the willingness was there to move the ball better.

Still lacked shots on goal.
