Hamer played LCM a number of times for Coventry last season (according to the lineups on SoccerWay). In fact, look at his heat map from last season, looks like he can play absolutely anywhere!

What worries me is he’s a free agent and if we are the only only ones (ie desperate) prepared to sign him then what is it we are missing that all the other clubs arent?

He had like 233 days off injured with a knee injury in 2022. Possibly no one quite sure if he's at the same standard he was pre-injury.

Remember David mcgoldrick and John fleck, free transfers can work out ok. Obviously it all depends on the players desire , he's still fairly young to go on to have a potentially successful career.

They have.

You think of some of the decent players that they have signed, decent track records, even shown glimpses at Everton, but then have been woven into the downward spiral they have been on for many many seasons. Ancelotti even struggled.

Everton are a floater that wont flush in the Premier League.

I’m not sure if you understood me. I was responding to someone saying the general sentiment is that we won’t be signing Doyle now. That was news to me so I asked where it came from.

Would have Doyle instead every day of the week. Hungry, fit, hard working, talented, you know what you’re getting and outstanding last season.
Davies, unfortunately one swallow doesn’t make a summer - see Baxter, Morrison and others. There’s a reason they’re free agents and at present financially I don’t think United can afford a big wage gamble.
