I've been his biggest critic but fair play to him, he's done well the last few games and weighed in with a couple of important goals. The Mrs. asked me what changed and I just said he'd improved since he was linked with a move to Stoke. Aah, there you have it, she astutely said, the fear of having to live in that shithole would see anybody busting a gut not to be forced to go there.

We'll see what January brings but for now, he finally looks like he gets us. Thank You Stoke City FC.

UTBFTP 👊👊👊

For me it’s not about Cannons quality so much.
It’s been his effort and desire whilst at Sheff Utd….which has been poor (similiar to Louie Barry).

In the last few matches..It’s as though Cannon is playing for a contract because his body language looks so different.

He’s now giving a lot of effort, showing for and wanting the ball, winning some of the 50/50 tackles. He’s still not been great but at least he now looks (at least) average Championship standard. You can see his confidence is growing, he definitely seems to enjoy playing in a front 2.

In the past when you see his name on the team sheet your head drops
But now he’s a genuine 1st team option and a decent/ postive option coming off the bench.
Long may it continue, pleased for him because at least he’s doing himself some justice.

Whilst 2 in 2 is commendable and today’s strike was definitely a “goalscroers” goal, he’s a long way from a complete change around.

Look at him 1 v 1 on Sunday, his cheap giveaway on a break today when his pass out to the left was so slow it was easily disposed and his complete mid pick at the far post off a corner.

We have better options.

We've all mid picked one at one time or another

Just to look at that first goal, it all came from Cannon pressing a defender into a weak pass. Then he gets himself in a decent position to pick up some scraps.

Not really bothered about the finish so much as just to point out that good things can happen when players put in a bit of the dirty work to make it happen.

I'll forgive players for missing chances or making mistakes. What's really bothered me about Cannon has been him not doing those basic bits of making runs and harassing defenders. Glad he's showing that and even more pleased he's got a reward for it.

I’m really happy for him and there has been a change in his effort and also his luck, but I still thought his all round game was poor, whether holding the ball up or his passing

Pleased to read a bit of perspective.

Cannon’s rise in form is reminiscent of Brewster improvement in form towards the end of last season.
They both initially set such a low bar….consistently poor to below average every match.

Both Brewster and now Cannon have increased their levels by a big margin…..but that’s because both were massive disappointments.
2 of the worse signings in our recent history.

Everyone praised Brewster last season but even at his best was still only average Championship standard.

Same with Cannon, instead of being crap….he’s started showing signs he might be average Championship standard (and based on initial impressions that’s meant as a positive) but at least Cannon is now on an upward trajectory and is a genuinely decent option.

We are so lucky to have 4 striker options, Campbell, Bamford, Cannon and Ings. All good enough to play at this level.
Had doubts on Cannon but he’s finally showing signs he’ll be able to justify his inclusion in our squad.

He cost a fraction of what Brewster cost and has had more impact in the last week than Brewster had in his first 3 years.

He’s been crap until this week, but he hasn’t been ‘Brewster crap’.

Campbell and Cannon forming a productive partnership would go a long way for our season. Both of them have goals in them and both in form would be a challenge for any Championship backline.

For me he’s much like Ched. He doesn’t like too much time on the ball and is much better when he just has to hit the ball without thinking. He’s also playing in a 2 down the middle. Play to his strengths and let him get a shot away and he’ll fire us to top 6.

It’s all about belief. I posted similar earlier but it’s mad how much of the game is in your head. He’s had things not working for him, he’s had the fans on his back, he’s either played it safe as a result or just not put in the effort required. These fans hate me, think I’m awful, why should I bother?

Suddenly scores a goal in the derby, gets to celebrate in front of the fans, he’s come alive. He’s competing, playing with his head up. He’s showing composure on the ball because he feels he can back himself more.

There’s a really quality player in there he just needs to maintain his belief and never waiver in his effort. Same goes for all our players. Easier said than done but this week has been an excellent one. Here’s to more.

He’s bagged a couple of goals but I’m still far from convinced about Cannon.

I do think he looks, (and United look) a lot better with 2 up top

To be fair he took his goal really well today, I know it wasn’t a worldie but playing him up as a 2 and giving him chances he has shown he can score/get the ball away. Playing him on the Wing just wasn’t working. Although different players it would be like playing Billy Sharp on the left wing when you know he is best suited to a 2 up poacher goal scorer

He's doing great now after a bad start to his Blades career.

He's finding his feet in the box but still needs to improve his hold up play outside the box, in my opinion.
Fair comments, I guess depending on the pairings how they develop will see how much that is necessary. Getting some confidence in front of goal has taken nearly a year, so baby steps to the all round striker!

This, hit nail on head for me.

His body language & game play looked like he was unhappy & didnt want to be here.

All of a sudden somethings changed and hes now closing down, putting him self about & has a spring in his step.

Would you blame him not wanting to be here? Low on confidence, booed onto the pitch, playing out of position. Let's just see how he does till January.
