The bad first month may come back to haunt us, two of Scunny, Bolton and Bradford need to drop points to the equivalent of that first four games where we took only one point out of twelve and that is assuming we don't have a similar dip in form again.

If I had to bet my my life on the outcome of the regular season right now I would say the play offs are where we will end up.

Being 2 games adrift makes it look worse than it is.win those 2 and we are 1win behind scunny in second , we just have to stay focused on our aim
All teams have a wobble , we started with one .Bolton had one no doubt scunny and bradford will have them too

Just keep consistently winning our matches and it will all take care of itself. Do that and we will go up, probably as champions. The others will take points of each other and some will drop off when form, injuries and suspensions start to bite. Get to January and strengthen and provided we have stayed well in touch with the first two then i expect us to dominate the race early next year.

Totally agree. Only worry about the other teams when we are playing them. If we get the right results, the rest will take care of itself.

Bradford's win today was against ten men. We also have our main rivals for promotion - Scunthorpe, Bolton and Bradford - just to play at home now. McCabe does need to support Chris to strengthen the side in January however - we need back ups for goalkeeper, central defence, midfield and forward (say four players).

Signing four back up players would be horrendous management.

I'll hazard a guess some of the contributors to this debate are quite young. Nobody who's been following football for a long time regards promotion as spoken for, by any team, at the beginning of November. We've seen it all before.

When Scunthorpe, to mention the team provoking the wildest panic, have their bad run, as they will, some of you you might be a little more reflective and control those crazily jerking knees.

Six months is a long time in football. Calm down.

Obviously nowt we can do about the other teams.

Feel like the postponed game isn't helping us at the moment. If we had played and won at Walsall and got an additional 3 points would have been a big psychological boost and put some more pressure on Bolton and Bradford. I feel they can go into games with a bit more freedom knowing even if they lose we cant just leap frog them.

Think Scunny are going to last the distance this year.

Agree with this, I don't seen them dropping off like other teams in recent years.

The way I see it it's still in or hands, win all our games and we're up.

Obviously I don't genuinely expect us to win all our games but it makes obvious the point that the gap ain't close able....certainly when we've not even played half the season. Keep concentrating on ourselves at this stage, and hell right now it's a pleasurable things to be concentrating on at long last!

Come on Posh! And I don't say that very often.

Lol. I hoped nobody had noticed.

Don't you just hate auto-correct and the 10 minute edit rule? ;)

Gray, excellent piece example of what happens when you forget to check, done it many times myself and no doubt will do in future.....thought Pinchy's reply was exactly what this needed.......more please sir UTB

This time last year:
1st - 6th: Gillingham, Coventry, Walsall, Burton, Wigan, Bury.
And at the end of the season:
Champions Wigan,
Runners up Burton,
P-off winners Barnsley (who were 23rd).
There's a long, long, way to go yet.
Thank you 'Footstats', I'll need you on call all season.
