Not great for us really. At least a loss tomorrow wouldn't be catastrophic. A win would be perfect (and a draw a bit.... meh). Stating the obvious, obviously.
 



That was a great result for Scunthorpe, plenty expect them to slip up but they could easily stay up there. I think their manager knows exactly what he's doing, and they've now got that confidence.

Didn't expect Bradford to win that convincingly, and Millwall also beat Bristol Rovers 4-0, against 10 men from 15 minutes onwards but still impressive. I'm a bit concerned they'll get back up there, we could do without it really.

Bury are on fire - lost 4-1 at home to Southend and have lost their last 7. We play them soon...
 
We'll go 3rd with a solid win if Bolton slip up. By the time we play, we'll be 2 games behind the top 3, so our points tally ain't too shabby if you look at it that way. Tomorrow should be a straightforward win for us, as should the rest of November's games. I think that once we get back on an even keel with the rest of the top teams in this division in terms of games played, our position will look much better. We've been playing catch up since that postponed Walsall game, but we're essentially the best team in the league at the moment.
 
We all know that games in hand don't usually do us any favours, so 3 points tomorrow is not a must but would keep us firmly up there. A bit of a gap building at the top and it's harder chasing IMO.
 
It was clear that Scunthorpe were going to be up around the automatics just by their summer recruitment.
 
Obviously nowt we can do about the other teams.

Feel like the postponed game isn't helping us at the moment. If we had played and won at Walsall and got an additional 3 points would have been a big psychological boost and put some more pressure on Bolton and Bradford. I feel they can go into games with a bit more freedom knowing even if they lose we cant just leap frog them.

Think Scunny are going to last the distance this year.

Long long way to go but agree that was a top result for them. We just need to keep playing as we are and I can see the top 4 pulling away. Still feel that Christmas might sort the men from the boys when Scunny visit Bradford and Bolton in the space of 5 days. Points will be dropped no matter what and we could enter the new year top 2. All ifs and buts for now though.
 
We are in a strong position, we don't want to be the pace setters yet,

And to be fair we're up there on less games after a poor start and a with pretty threadbare squad up until now
 
I'm also pissed off about that postponed game where that set of tinpot shite Walsall bottled it with the excuse that a couple of substitutes were on international duty. We could've really done with that 3 points - and it would've been 3 points, they were in bad form at the time.

Yes but in League 2 Carlisle lost to Newport today. Just shows you dunt it?
 
Yeah I thought Scunny would start to slip and they haven't. I did expect them to be up there aroudn the top 6. They keep winning and the winger Morris keeps scoring (not bad for someone Bradord binned in the summer).

Bradford have been a real surprise. They lost a few players and the manager and I have never been convinced by McCall but they keep picking up results.

The advantage we have on these two is we do have more depth I feel particularly in the striking areas.

As for the rest....I expected Bolton and Millwall to be up there and I think they both will compete for top two. Millwall have come good winning 4 on the bounce. Bolton have a strong defence but likes us with Ebanks Landell, key will be them keeping the lad Clough.

I would be quite surprised if for the top 6 it is not 5 of the above one other; I am not sure some of the others around there will be consistent enough to stay up there

Charlton and MK Dons I expected to be higher. Watched Charlton today and they looked dreadful.

It has not surprised me a few of the promoted teams on the whole have done well and only Oxford seem set to struggle. Wimbledon have surprised though. I expected them to be near the bottom and Oxford where they are.

As for us we are still well behind the top place despite brilliant run and having games in hand. I fear we may dip tomorrow (just a feeling) but then with 6 of 8 home games we have to claw that gap back by the New Year. We have always been playing catch up and every year fans of us say team x wont keep it up (Burton last year) and they invariably do!

We need to stay with these teams as even though we are doing great; they actually have been even more consistent than us with only the odd bad result all season. That 4 game handicap has meant we have had to go on such a brilliant run but still need to keep it going. When I looked and saw we were 9 points off top I thought that is a fair bit and was surprised how clear Scunny were.
 
Four quality sides this year. Not even a fag packet between em. Hoping for a few injuries to the other three through Christmas.
 
I know I'm not alone in hating games in hand but they're games where we're clear favourites. Nothing we can do but keep winning and know that some of the top sides are still to play each other where we've got our hardest fixtures out of the way for now.

I can't see Scunthorpe slipping up tbh . I know it's still early days but there looking good winning games you don't expect . think they'll be a number of teams fighting for second spot . Hopefully us including
 
Scunny have been solid ever since getting Graham Alexandra in , and we all know what he did with Burnley against us in the play-off final , so we owe him one . How ever having no Craig Beatie in our team this time . Should make it easier .
 
Anything can happen, we're only a 1/3rd of the way through the season. Key players can lose form be injured or even sold in January. Where would Scunny be without Morris's goals and we'd look pretty sick without Billy's. Don't rule out clubs coming up on the rails either, for instance Millwall.

I think the key to a successful season from our point of view, is to try to stay undefeated and take full advantage of the six home games between now and January. We then need to have a positive January window that will leave us stronger not weaker with all positions covered. The new transfer rules should in theory give us an advantage over clubs with less funding, and it's going to be a long hard season for trams with smaller squads.

You could say the same for any side. Even us. Ebanks Landell goes back and Moore or Sharp gets an injury then we would have a drop off.

However we should have more resources in January to cover anything. If any of the teams post January get injuries/suspensions they should get hit harder than us. That is why we will need a couple more players in the window.
 
Hope Scunny do a Tranmere, they were top of league 1 in January 2013 but ended up 11th.

Scunny have a reasonable mix of experienced players with some good pace too. Madden is a Sharp type poacher and they have a few niggly so and sos you need in Bishop and Dawson and a decent defence.

I think they will last the course but still think playoffs rather than automatic. I think Bolton, us and Millwall will contest the top 2. Ouch. Tipping us!

I did think this the other day - though it's always so hard to predict, I feel like there are more parallels with Tranmere than, say, Burton. As I said, after their tough December we'll know a lot more about them.

My prediction? Blades and Bradford top two. Scunny and Bolton in the play-offs along with Bristol Rovers and Millwall.
 



Bradford's win today was against ten men. We also have our main rivals for promotion - Scunthorpe, Bolton and Bradford - just to play at home now. McCabe does need to support Chris to strengthen the side in January however - we need back ups for goalkeeper, central defence, midfield and forward (say four players).
