The reason a complete rebuild of the kop isn't on the cards is simply because the benefits would not justify the massive costs. Knocking down a structurally sound concrete terrace just to build another concrete terrace doesn't really make much sense. Yes you could build it slightly steeper for a slightly better view but we fill the kop regularly and people don't seem to mind.

All the other issues (supporting pillars, capacity, roof, aesthetics, facilities) can be easily solved with a relatively simple extension. And the extension can be built steeper than the rest of the stand anyway.
One benefit to knocking it down and removing the mound would be more space underneath the stand, to include other revenue generating businesses - new function suites, shops etc.

The safety issues mentioned above aside, I think the current Kop does the job except for the pillars and the open corner. There's no sound quite like the BDTBL Kop when it's full. The redesign gets rid of the pillars, adds capacity and fills in the corner. Without a gaping hole in that corner the atmosphere and volume of noise the Kop can generate can only increase even more. I agree, it would be nice to see seats instead of offices in the corner, but I suspect those offices go someway to paying for the new roof and seating.

We've made major amendments to the ground before and it's cost us dearly. The South Stand almost ruined us remember.

And being serious, even if we managed to get back to the PL (and under CW I have restored faith in that one) then we're rarely going to have more than 36-38k at the games.

As for the porkers, I stand by my prediction when "Chancer" took over and they'll be playing in a new stadium in the burbs of Rotherham within the next 5 years. I'd much rather be at Beautiful DOWNTOWN Bramall Lane with the Kop on a mound of earth than in a soulless warehouse next to the new Ikea. UTB.
