The performances recently have ranged from not good to poor, if they don't improve soon the results will soon follow, that's all there is to it.

Plus if course none of our immediate opponents are in breach of EFL rules and are therefore far less likely to be undermined by off the field issues.

People don’t want to hear this though mate do they….

Sometimes results mask performances and sometimes performances don’t equal the results that’s just football … right now results are masking performances and like you say there’s only so long that will go on

In many of the games we have won we haven't scored or kept at least a 2 goal lead. When you don't do this games become edgy. But the results have been justified in my opinion.

How about we support the team that have got us to 2nd in the table. We would have snatched your arm off last year for this.

I agree though 10 points gap can be closed quick. Just as much as it can be extended.

7 games ago the gap to Blackburn in 3rd was 5 PTS. Now 3rd is 10 PTS.
The gap to Boro was 11 ( played one game more) and the gap to Luton was also 11.

Just gotta take each game as it comes.

Although I disagree … I think we are very anti football at the minute … it’s not good to watch … we might get 10mins if decent stuff and the. It’s back to …. Get it to Illy and see what he can do (occasionally Mcatee)

It’s all a weird defence mechanism - come up with an unlikely negative scenario and convince yourself it will definitely happen. If the worst then does happen you can say you knew all along and nobody can accuse you of celebrating too soon.

10 points clear is an incredible position to be in.
 
When unsworth scored that penalty for Wigan the day we were sent crashing out of the Premier league it turned my universe on its head

The people who had been predicting this since the day we sold him were right we are doomed by the football gods to.always fuck up in spectacular style

But then something magical happened over the next decade or so when I realised that these people treat every decision Sheffield united makes as the end of the fucking world from selling khadra to selling the club and the old adage of a stopped clock and being right sprung to mind

One thought does bother me though

I didn't think our performance yesterday was anything different to what we have done in any away game this season. We restricted the Home team, played some decent football in patches. The main difference was that we didn't put one of our chances away. That would have have changed Rotherhams approach.

results are similar yes, but reading you lads talk about blades performances and comparing it to how we are seeing our performances(boro). its a bit different, we have been improving, seems like you guys are just getting through games doing enough to win, high efficiency though all the same.

first monthg or so under carrick we started getting results and were kind of grinding out results and making hard work of it at times. but winning often. then we had the break for wc, bit rusty coming back but winning. another shift in tactics and first 11 saw us playing crooks up front. performances were steady but up against sunderland it was obvious we couldnt play a slow cm up front against better sides. i was calling this out for weeks on our forums.

archer has come into the starting 11 and we beat watford and blackpool really easily. its like a spark ignited in the team. we wee obviously being held back by the cf postion. i think we all agree our players look really fit and working extremally hard for carrick. everyone looks great. forss on the right actually looks comfortable now, for the frst month he looked like a cf playing wide and uncomfortable. not anymore. we have brought in ramsey and barlaser to. everything is looking really positive for us right now. probably a case were we (fans) are over confident and you(fans) are overly pessimistic.

all the predictions wont matter in a couple of weeks. we will either be 4-7 points behind you or 16 +. i think it will swing one way or the other. i dont think the gap will remain the same.

its amazing that luton are right up there. we beat them at the riverside and they were pretty terrible, it was a pretty easy win in the end. cant believe it. watford were terrible to. not much better than blackpool were. its probably a case were most of the teams in the league are actually very similar with a few teams at the top yourselves and burnley, and i would class us as a 3rd team in that bracket now that are a step up to the rest.

All the teams below us are pretty terrible and that includes you!
Burnley and the Blades will easily take top 2 but hey mate, keep dreaming.

we got a good hiding last season like fair do's. sign of things to come for us. well hopefully we have 3 northern teams promoted anyhow. sick of all these little southern town teams getting bank rolled and doing well.
