What's everyone's plans? I hear something is happening at around 2pm in the peace gardens?

I have a 2 year old so would like to take him to something but think the big crowds of this evening may be a bit too much for him. Is there anything else happening?

They are showing a "season review" on a big screen from what I understand then later in the day the parade will start.

There will be alot of scroungers from benefit street sat on the Moor outside the burger van next to the Moorfoot all day. It is always entertaining watching them day by day shout at their kids who should be in school, whilst they wear their tracksuits smoking 20 packs an hour. It is also entertaining watching them and realising that the tax we pay, goes to them.

This is an all day event by the way.

I tried to talk my grandson out of it but he really wants to see the civic reception.

Is the award of the trophy at 6pm?
Unless I can persuade him to change his mind I'm planning to arrive in town at 5.30 ish.

6:45 ish, the bus leaves the Lane at 6pm and arrives at the Town Hall 45 mins later.

Good to see us making the right choices in who to demonise...

Surprised they're alive smoking 20 packs an hour...

It would be great if we all had time to watch them all day every day, you are so so lucky.

A civic reception is planned for the players at the town hall after they make their way through the city from Bramall Lane on an open top bus, which is due to leave the ground at 6pm and arrive in the city centre at 6.45pm Players are due to go onto the Town Hall balcony to be introduced to the crowds below and at 7.50pm they will pose for photographs with the League One Trophy on the steps outside. The party is due to begin at 2pm with big screens in the Peace Gardens showing a review of United's successful season, including the team's goals. A number of roads will be closed for the bus parade and civic reception, including Fargate, Surrey Street, Leopold Street, Burgess Street and Holly Street. They will close from the afternoon until around 8.30pm.

The more community minded among our fan base helpfully closed London Road too from Sunday afternoon.

Best not to take any risks where public safety is concerned....

I am at work but heading down about 4. Meeting up with wife and kids 5.30 ish, she is then buggering off though as she can't stand football in any form.

Can't see many being there to be honest
First day back at work for most and most of them will struggle to get there for six o'clock ish

Don't know why it wasn't yesterday due to the points you mentioned.

I think there will be a decent turnout to be honest.

Sunday was a great day of celebration...after celebrating promotion and the title in the previous couple of weeks. Today does feel like one celebration too many to me. Hope those that go enjoy it but I do think the turnout will be average at best.

It's a civic event, not a club event. The Club have done all their celebratory efforts, this is the City leadership being seen to be doing something to mark the achievement. No idea what the turnout will be, but it is something that had to happen in some form or another. They are accused of bias anyway, so to have not marked the achievement at all would've just left them open to even louder comments.

Best place to park today?
Probably depends which direction you're heading in from. Bramall Lane up to the town hall, will all be disrupted, so the opposite end of the city centre might be the best bet.

Last one in 2006 was well attended.

Quick stroll up town after work, few jars/tins watching the season review on a big screen in the Peace Gardens, get to see Sharp lift the Trophy one last time and the weather looks like it will hold out. Can think of worse ways to spend the evening.

Will be a good occasion. Plus TV is usually shite on a Tuesday anyway.

Then just as things are winding down, if you'd like to extend the festivities, get straight into the nearest watering hole to catch the Madrid derby in the Champions League :D

Going up from work. Hopefully pop into Brown's or somewhere for a bevvie to sneak out and up to Town Hall.
