Indeed, once interrupted one of our games, showing off with keepy uppy saying "I play for United". This was prior to him getting in the first team. Needless to say, he didn't impress us and we didn't believe him, thought he was just a big head.:confused:

Remarkable - his first words to me were ' what's you record for keepy uppy? ' quickly followed by ' I play for United' ..... I shit you not !! This would be circa 1977.

I actually knew him for a good few years after that ( same cricket club ), and he's not a bad sort actually. He's often back in Greno for Crimbo and funerals and the like.

I actually bumped in to him in Glasgow a good few years ago and his first words to me were ' Tha's put some weight on ..' . Unfortunately I couldn't respond in kind.
 
Bumped into him in the Plat last season. He’s an agent theses days Raking it in!

On reflection same here most likely , he was in the same year as my oldest brother at school born 1959 , nowhere near the first team yet so he would have been about 15 or 16 ...... his 'patter' suggests it would have been around the same time :D

If you were a Greno lad, PB, we may have been at school together. Greno infants and juniors for me. Left for pastures new in 1974, age 10.

I was year below you and went to Tommy More's on Creswick Lane . I'd know a few faces from years in and around you at Grenoside school.

Oh you'd know Frazer Clay if you'd come across him, PB. Was a lunatic even at 8 years old. Was actually a mate of mine and others who lived nearby but had still twatted most of us. Died in a prison cell some years ago with the help of nefarious substances. Don't think anybody who knew him was surprised.😕
 
Ecclesfield Comp, the home of Oggy Jennett, Mighty Moss and Cordon the bully. Frazer Smith rings a bell from Grenoside and the name Frazer clay does. Our house backed onto to Yewlands playing field.

Deputy leader at one point. I liked him.

Decent cricketer as well , in the staff v pupils match I bowled out Nobby Moss and Steve Guest, but Cornwell and Gittens knocked off our modest total.

Somebody or other Glenn another sports teacher went apeshit at me with a rounders bat for allegedly stuffing a fruit and nut wrapper through the lower school letter box. I admit to faffing with the letterbox, opening and closing it quickly whilst proclaiming "It looks like an open and shut case to me Watson".

Twat.

Same goes for the bitch at Chapeltown Baths who said I had to wear a swimming cap because my hair was too long in the 2nd year. Pretty pointless nowadays ...
